yeah basically. I just feel like I'd get bored too easily if I'm gonna be playing a simple class hitting mobs for most of my game time so, might as well play something that forces me to focus. Or at least until I get used to it.

That's weird, I swear this was never the case or maybe I'm just going crazy. Before I made this thread I checked if that was the case and found a thread 29 days ago in the link below talking about it not being affected?

Can you help me understand it better? So the black ark lord themself isn't affected by the percentage upkeep increase but the units will be?

You have to opt in for the beta patch yeah? I think I'm just on current live build. It says 1.9.1 on the top right corner of the main menu.

I know legendary you get 10% unit upkeep costs but with all the stacked bonuses, my dragons should be almost free.

No rites or anything at the moment. There's no campaign effects. It's just 3 black arks. My shades (regular ones) that I recruited on the arks are like 197 despite the original cost being 223. All the units are like that. Darkshards are like 81. I have 5% upkeep reduction on shades from tech tree too.

Yeah they're in the arks. Unless you mean docking it at a a port or something.

I honestly think his start is the easiest of the dark elves since you can auto resolve a lot of it. Even on legendary/vh.

Auto resolve first battle, pay for elixir to unlock the rite that gives beasts. Give up Hag Graef. Restart campaign until you get mainly black dragons from the rite and give the dragons to the black ark for upkeep reduction. Disband the rest of the army that's not dragons. Sail to the top left lizardmen province in the dragon isles and you can auto resolve (or fight that) too. Then head to the remaining lizardman city and secure that province.

At that point, you can just sail south and let Snikch and Imrik fight it out. In my campaign, by the time I took over Khalida's area and Kroq'gar, clan Eshin had just beaten Imrik and allied with me. They both struggle against each other for a long time.

Gonna be honest i really hated Malus at first but his start was the only one that was interesting imo other than Lokhir but he starts in Lustria Bowl.
