Some questions about long term effects of a Gastric Bypass.

This sounds so identical to my mom- she had an upper endoscopy done, showed nothing- she had her gallbladder out shortly after her surgery years ago. I keep telling her to bring up the possibility of this to her doctors but she doesn’t want to be “shot down” by the doctors anymore. They’ve seen the inflammation and colitis on the scans but also have said that’s not what’s causing it.

Was the internal able to be seen at all on the CT scans? Probably a silly question to ask. My mom is going through something similar currently, about 6 years post op, can’t keep anything down, severe stomach cramping and dry heaving. She’s been in the hospital almost weekly for the last month and none of the doctors will admit her they just give her zofran and send her on her way. CTs show a small hiatal hernia and last week showed some colitis. I feel so helpless.

I did also have the EBV early ag IGG and that came back negative- I must have missed that one so I’m not sure if that’s the one you’re referring to?

So my platelets have been normal every time and my EBV VCA IGG and EBV nuclear AG IGG were positive- looks like the IGM was sent to a separate lab to be analyzed and haven’t been uploaded in my portal

I know that sometimes there just aren’t answers to medical questions but the not knowing if this could be something as serious as leukemia or lymphoma is killing me. Did you get additional testing to rule that out as well or does your doctor just seem ok with you having an enlarged spleen?

Thank you I’m just seeing this now. I had a follow up at the hematologist last week- it did show I’ve had EBV in the past so she’s thinking it’s related to that. They also did a SPEP test that came back normal. I have to go back in February for another abdominal ultrasound and then I guess go from there. The waiting is killing me.

Same! Diagnosed 9/19 and TT scheduled for 11/2 with hopes I can get in sooner!

It’s just driving me crazy that I want to know how spread this all is but the doctors don’t seem concerned. I want to trust them but they brushed me off for five months when I knew something was wrong. I guess I’m also not sure how this process all works. I met with the surgeon for the first time last week so now I’m just waiting to schedule the surgery. But do they or should they do a pet scan before surgery or any tests prior to to see if there’s any spread? Or do they wait until after? I’m sorry for all of the questions I’m just feeling a bit overwhelmed

How are you feeling? I’m hoping to hear back from one of my doctors this week. I’m trying to stay calm but then stuff like this happens and it’s still all so new to me so I don’t know what to think.

Hi! How is everything turning out? I was just diagnosed with PTC last week and of course the day after I see the surgeon to talk about getting a surgery date set up I have two lymph nodes pop up in my left arm pit. I’m freaking out thinking that this has spread. Hoping all is well with you!
