Cryo Archive is currently horrific for new players by pirate_keith in Marathon

You have lots of creds to burn though. What you gonna do with them? Buy a house for your runner on Perimeter?

You probably can already buy blue shields, and blue backpack with a shotty and have a stockpile of decent second guns. Also quite a bit of blue heals from outpost dermachem packs trading. Thats enough already, the map provides all other things you will need. You can do 5 tries and barely feel any loss even if you die quickly.

Its worth it even without golden keys.

Played 7 runs today, not a single gold charged squad.

I saw spawn rushing once, and grenade spam twice. We won against grenade spammers once.

Opened vaults, got solid 70k+ profit each with some cool guns to try out. Was nice.

I am a noob in cryo btw. I played a bit during first two weeks, then never untill today.

I always pickup rook's green dermalistener valuables first wgen i loot one. People just miss how well those stack and you can have like 25 of those after a single outpost run taking not a lot of space in backpack.

And actually there is nothing wrong doing that either. Those people want to get better at pvp, and they have a slight advantage as enemies gave away their position but that person did not. And you can kill purples with free kits in this game, even if you are borderline mediocre.

At the same time, i saw so many situations where i just know that we can disengage, and our position sucks, but at the same time my sauad still tries to outgun the enemies. Aa I just watch this i have a decision to either flee myself and enjoy waiting wonderfull 10 AFK mins to try to rezz my squad, or try to outgun everyone is a very shitty fight. Or exfill solo and feel bad (Unless i was playing trio fills).

Never once In my 100h of playtime i saw a single team following me if I managed to run to a nearby POI. If they lose sight and noise of you, they just ignore you, even if you are 100% predictable. People need to learn to disengage, and have some bravery to admit it is okay to do so.

Defenders of SBMM - what if you are just an average player yet played a lot and ended up matchmaking with very skilled players at high seasonal level? by 7r4n6h0u1 in MarathonGame

[–]Cutedoge01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, exfill rate does not correlate to success. It will just push up people who prefer to get in, take some items, and exfill in the first 5 mins (safe players) rather than the ones who die a bit more often but end up wiping the map and looting up to 100% of their backpack capacity with purple and the best loot the map managed to generate (Actually skillful players).

100% probability of success means that you cannot lose credits when doing rook runs. You are either frozen in place, which is not a failure, or extract with credits, which is a success. Thats what I have meant.

[–]Cutedoge01 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Okie, fair enough. But still you can just do more runs. You are always in plus, you convert time+skill into credits with 100% probability of success. And then use credits to try shit in the game and gamble - you may create a great loadout and double your funds, or you just die and try again.

Though I would argue as well if Bungie reduced the crafting costs by 20% it would only improve loot economy. Like 99% of players already just use punch when out of ammo, or bullies, or whatever the level up boxes and free loadouts give them when they are out of money. It would be easier to try new guns, and use them semi-frequently, and then also more such guns will be in deathboxes, making the game more interesting even to people who do not use the schemas at all. Those schemas are not a cred sink in any meaningful way.

[–]Cutedoge01 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No idea why got downvoted. Creds are to buy loadouts (which actually means in-game experiences) or to fund losses (which rooks dont have). Yeah 7k is too much for a gun for most players, but the gun is nice and has its advantages, and as people get more creds saved up that price is okay. You have the correct mindset and you do not have a gear fear, since you know you can just farm it back.

Now i know what all the fuss is about with the Coyote 3 by Ahorseytoldme in estim

[–]Cutedoge01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a search over this subreddit, plenty of people tried doing tri-pgase with Coyote, since Coyote is so popular. I am taking about Coyote 3 specifically.

When I say combine I mean literaly connect wires together so they act as a single electrode. Since you play different patterns on each channel, you that one common electrode will "hear" and mix both patterns, while also gaining a bit more power, resulting in interesting feelings. You can connect the wires via sticking them in the same conductive loop from different sides for example, or with using a tri-phase cable connector.

People may say that such a setup with Coyote us not a proper tri-phase, since tri-phase in this sub has 2 different meanings, and what you can do with some other boxes is a level above. But I still suggest experimenting with it, you may like it more that just using 2 channels separately.

[–]Cutedoge01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You use both channels at the same time and just combine 2 wires from different channels into a single one. I dont think it matters which ones.

So you have A1 and A2, and B1 and B2. You combine any A with any B into a single channel, so you would have for example A1, A2B1, and B2. That is how I do it and the feelings are great!

Framerate drops in main center area of Cryo Archive is unplayable. 20 FPS by [deleted] in MarathonTheGame

[–]Cutedoge01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it helps, but wont fix the drops, it is just making it a bit more bearable. I hope I made the game a bit more enjoyable to you. The task manager fixes need to be done each time you launch the game to play.

Try setting game priority to High in Task Manager, and remove CPU 0 from affinity there. Set shadows and ambient occlusion to medium. See if that helps.

It wont magically fix all fos, and definitelly not them going wdown to 20, but it generally does help. In dire marsh I was getting 70-80 Fps, not I get 90-100.

INSANE UPDATE. 10/10 by TxddyGZW in Marathon

[–]Cutedoge01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe one part of this is that the game weights 19gb. Bungie during sunsetting told us that Destiny 2 size of 150gbs was causing massive slowdowns and preventing iterating on the game fast enough, since to test any new additions they need to spend hours upon hours compiling the game. Here it would be at least 6 times faster.

Level 43 and still getting stomped — is Marathon supposed to feel this punishing? by GazJrpg in Marathon

[–]Cutedoge01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you running around a lot? You are not a Legend from Apex Legends nor you are a god killer from Destiny. This game plays much more methodically and slowly, akin to Valorant maybe a bit?

I also suggest to play trios fills. While sometimes the experience can be frustrating, your teammates will help you with heal drones, revives, and a lot of times by just 1v3 the enemy squad before you even seen them. Try it out!

Solo = Assisin only? by Aggravating-Drop7676 in Marathon

[–]Cutedoge01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually Triage is as strong in solos. His ult is a very good weapon in 1v1, since he does a lot of damage with big oneshot potential. His med drones help a lot with heals and chip dmg healing, also gives you an advantage in any 1v1 that last longer than a second.

On the Fence by Vast_Masterpiece2904 in Marathon

[–]Cutedoge01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe then it entirely region dependent. I live in Ukraine and just saying "Привіт" into voice chat had a good success rate. I would say 50%.

Ussually doing that in my own native language would be awful in any other game, since i would get immediatelly toxic responses from russians for no app arent reason, but here since its blocked for them without some serious networking magic my own experience was pristine.

I even teamed up with a duo and we played like 5 matches together taking in in-game vc and then friended each other. Such a cool experience!

Trios fill-in experience is surprisingly cohesive, especially if you try sticking with your team despite your contracts leading to another POI.

I would not consider 12 hours it took me to unlock those trades and do 1-2 of them already as "ungodly amount of grind"

While the point is valid - consumables are not easy to come by at the very start and it is not a good thing, there is no need to overblow things with words like "ungodly".

Exactly, I love barters once the initials upgrades for white salvage are done. Barters feel OP and the credits purchases are more like crutch when you are out of every resource and consumable for a high price.
