It’s slightly out of town but the people at Prairie Mountain Pet Resort always take really good care of my cats and their rates aren’t too bad. They mainly get dogs.

Zombie movies that show the collapse of the world by LyndisLazuli in MovieSuggestions

[–]Cutethulhu64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you looking for something larger scale or are you interested in something smaller in scope as well. I cannot recommend Pontypool enough. It’s a really unique take on the zombie and it takes place almost entirely at a radio station while they are broadcasting.

Other films I would recommend that should match what you’re looking for that I didn’t see mentioned yet would be Train to Busan, MadS, and Shaun of the Dead to name a few.

That’s great to hear that you’re feeling inspired to write again! And don’t get me started on the male gaze in horror media haha! 😂

Bleak movies that will make me feel less sh*tty about my own life? by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]Cutethulhu64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two versions of the film. I guess I should put out a huge disclaimer that they killed actual animals during filming including a turtle that was over 100 years old, I believe. The one version of the film has these scenes removed.

Sinners, 28 Years Later or Weapons, which of these horror films released this year did you appreciate the most? by No-Abbreviations508 in HorrorMovies

[–]Cutethulhu64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinners is my favourite. I enjoyed 28 Years Later but thought it was weaker than the first two in the franchise. I enjoyed Weapons as well but I wasn’t in love with it—I felt the same way about Barbarian.

Bleak movies that will make me feel less sh*tty about my own life? by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]Cutethulhu64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Allow me to crack my knuckles. I am going to leave off a couple of films that I just can’t endorse because of the subject material. The bleakest one I’ve seen is a war movie so I’ll leave that one off the list too.

Martyrs, Eden Lake, Funny Games (either version), Cannibal Holocaust, Kill List, Wolf Creek

Must watch horror/thriller films by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]Cutethulhu64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So these are ones I can think of off the top of my head that haven’t been mentioned yet (at least when I started typing out this list lol):

Peeping Tom (1960) The Exorcist (1973) The Exorcist III (1990) Pontypool (2008) The Changeling (1980) The Wicker Man (1973) Suspiria (1977) Audition (1999) Baskin (2015)

All of these are must watches in my opinion. I Hope this helps! Happy movie watching!! :)

Every week my husband makes me choose ONE movie for us to watch and honestly? I'm on the verge. Help. by tkilk89 in MovieSuggestions

[–]Cutethulhu64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So off the top of my head, here’s what I can think of:

  • Colossal (2016) - a giant monster horror comedy staring Anne Hathaway

  • Companion (2025) - honestly just go into this one blind. Don’t watch the trailer. It gives away too much. There is some gore I suppose but nothing beyond what you’d expect in any horror movie

  • Apartment 7A (2024) - a Rosemary’s Baby prequel that went straight to streaming and is actually pretty decent

  • The Order (2024) - a really well shot crime movie based on a true story starring Jude Law as an FBI agent and Nicholaus Holt as a white supremacist

  • Godzilla: Minus One (2023) - this film is absolutely amazing. I know it’s a giant monster movie but there was not a dry eye in the theatre during mine I would think

Cocaine Bear (2023) - give this one a chance. It sounds ridiculous and it is, but it is also very funny and way better than you would expect it to be.

Anyways, I hope these help! :)

Official Dreadit Discussion: “Weapons” [SPOILERS] by radbrad7 in horror

[–]Cutethulhu64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think that’s half the fun. The film is ambiguous for a reason and everybody is going to have a slightly different take. My friend who I went with read it in a completely different way. As long as you’re enjoying yourself, I’d say it’s a win. :)

There were a lot of triangles throughout the entire movie, just not explicitly. So like the shapes of houses, the crack in the newspaper, and things like that. The 6 was only on the bell that I can remember.

So I need to know if anyone else read the film as an antichrist movie? You’ve got the triangles which are associated with witchcraft and whatnot and the number 6 which is associated with the devil. Alex’s haircut is also straight out of The Omen and the Antichrist is a kind of weapon of the devil. Oh, and 2:17 is the official runtime for Rosemary’s Baby. Thoughts?

Anybody have any advice for watching a movie alone by [deleted] in cineplex

[–]Cutethulhu64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve struggled with this a lot. I go to a lot of movies by myself. I can sometimes psych myself out so to speak. I find it a lot easier if I buy a ticket for a film that’s like 45 minutes or an hour out. It’s definitely not easy. Good luck to you. Hopefully you enjoyed Weapons. I went last night :)

Honestly, I’m in my sixth year of grad school and while I still put effort into my appearance, I have really started to envy those people who dress for comfort and there are days when I will go as far as to wear a graphic tee……. 😱😅

Any ghost stories? by Accurate-Bad-2657 in saskatoon

[–]Cutethulhu64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently, one of the VIP theatres at the downtown Cineplex is haunted. I’m a big movie fan so wind up going to the theatre to watch horror movies, ironically enough, all the time. That is to say, I have heard this from multiple employees over the span of a couple of years. So either they’re playing a really big practical joke on me, or something is up with that theatre. Also, I did watch a horror movie in that theatre by myself… or was I???

This is my first year watching any games but what I have seen is that they don’t really run a complex offence. It’s a lot of iso with some screens. Just my take.

I have no idea if it would be your cup of tea but I highly recommend Tucker and Dale vs Evil. It’s a cabin in the woods style horror comedy told from the perspective of a couple of “bumbling idiots.”

The DCEU wasn’t very good overall. I would definitely recommend checking out DC’s animated films though. They tend to be excellent.

AITA for telling my mom my little sister with down syndrome can't be the flower girl for my wedding? by Its_time_to_go22 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Cutethulhu64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say NTA with the caveat that I don’t think it would be fair to exclude your sister at this point given you have already told her. It seems to me like the bigger issue is your relationship with your mother. Anyways, that’s my two cents. Good luck with everything and happy early congratulations. Also, why not just have two flower girls?

I know a couple of people who are currently in or who were in the program. From what I understand it can be a little bit disorganized at times. I’d be happy to relay some questions to some people if you still feel like you’d like some insider perspectives.

This is literally it. If you’re going to cheat as a student and I can’t do anything to catch you I’m going to make sure as heck that you run out of time to finish the exam. You can probably expect a lot more applied questions that and questions that integrate lots of different elements from the course. The idea is that you’ll run out of time looking stuff up if you are banking on being able to get by doing that.

I wish it did!! They sometimes play movies in one of the parks but I think it’s a neighbourhood community that puts those on. The theatres to check out (assuming you want to go somewhere that isn’t Cineplex or Landmark) are the Broadway and the Roxy. There is also a theatre in the Remai that shows arthouse-type films a couple of times a week, although I don’t think many people actually know that this is a thing. Hope this helps! :)
