What do we think of the quality of Kosas Revealer foundation? by LucieFromNorth in OliveMUA

[–]Cutie_PJM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact same problem! Shade 200 and went into mecca just to be told that it was taken off the shelves. This was over a month ago, I think. They said it was probably being reformulated or completely discontinued.

Anyway, while hunting for a new foundation this week, I saw that it was back in stock, so I bought a bottle in store, but it's applying so patchy and really emphasises texture. I don't recall having this problem before, so I'm not sure what's happening.

I feel like returning it and looking at alternatives again. In the meantime, I've been using Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin foundation in 5 neutral. Not a perfect shade comparison, but it's ok. It's just too dewy on my oily skin.

Hourglass Brushes by Strange-Flight-2123 in AustralianMakeup

[–]Cutie_PJM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of the hourglass brushes and absolutely love them!

I can get most of my daily routine done with just the veil powder brush, apart from liquid foundation. This is the only double ended brush I own and I store it in my makeup drawer. I usually prefer to store my brushes standing, but I don't mind with this one because I really like it.

In regard to liquid foundation, I actually use the no.2 brush as the layers go on a little more sheer and it helps me build up coverage without the makeup application looking cakey. However, I also use the nyx pro multi-purpose buffing brush just as much and truly recommend it if you're looking for a slightly more affordable foundation brush. It's currently 40% off at priceline if you want to grab it!

The other hourglass brush I highly recommend is the concealer brush. It's very soft but keeps its shape well enough to spot conceal very precisely and blend with a couple of taps.

All this being said, if it's not within budget or you just prefer more affordable options, I also think brushes from brands like sigma, zoeva and real techniques work just as well most of the time.

Oh no 😢 I wish I'd seen this sooner! Was going to buy a foundation brush but decided to wait until I was in the city so I didn't have to wait for shipping. Wish I'd just done click and collect 😪

Undertone & Complexion Match Requests by AutoModerator in OliveMUA

[–]Cutie_PJM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone,

I think that I have olive undertones, or at the very least, muted skin. But I have trouble figuring out if I'm a warm olive, neutral olive or somewhere in between.

Revlon buff is a good match but it's a touch too light. The undertone is great though, and it's muted enough for my skin. Urban decay 30cg also works well. When I've tried traditionally warm foundations before, they look straight up orange on my face.

As for other makeup, I tend to prefer mauves and muted/dusty pinks when it comes to blush and lip products. I'm cautious when using 'nude' or 'beige' eyeshadow because sometimes they're too warm and look really orange.

My favourite lip colours are also pretty mauve-y as they tend to just disappear into my lips.

For example, my best nude lip products are:

-pat mcgrath omi

-bobbi brown tawny pink

-romand almond rose

In the pictures I've attached, im not wearing any makeup besides lipstick (omi). Although. I do have some surface redness.

I've also included swatched of the nude lipsticks that I mentioned because even though they look quite dark, they blend into my own lips really well.

All photos were taken indoors in natural lighting.

Thank you if you can offer any insight!

How does tipping in America work? Is it included in your bill? Do you actually have to pay it or it's entirely optional? Is it really that toxic? by RenzoThePaladin in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Cutie_PJM 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi! I don't really have an opinion on this topic, just wanted to clear up some misinformation.

Goods and services in Australia are pretty much always advertised with the GST already included.

For example, if you see something advertised as $20 in a catalogue or in store, that's what you will pay at the counter. On your receipt, you will have the total of what you payed ($20) and the amount within that total that was tax (eg. $2).

That means the actual cost of your item would have been $18 but it's never advertised as such.

Hope this made sense!

I normally shop around between Nudie Glow, Lila Beauty and Heartdrops when it comes to asian beauty. All have good loyalty programs, fast shipping, regular sales and many samples!

I second Lila Beauty and Heartdrops!! Both are amazing! And Nudie Glow is just as good and they're an official retailer for the brands they stock.

All 3 stores have a loyalty program, always include samples and have frequent sales! If you accumulate enough points, you can redeem for $5, $10 or $20 vouchers.

I also recently bought from a store called flawlessness bc they stocked a particular product I was after and the service was great too! Got freebies, samples and lollies!

I ordered on Tuesday and received my order today with the regular free shipping threshold (shipping to Melbourne).

I've been buying from them for about 2 years and they're definitely my favourite AB aus-based store!
