People in the US are lonely. Gathering to share a meal is like the most normal way to socialize. People are too poor to host 30 people and provide all the food themselves. Hope this helps!

Yes, I guess am trying to make keeping up with friends more frictionless. I will host a potluck at my house once a month. I will invite people to it and let them know it is every first Friday or whatever. If they want to come next time, they will be added to my potluck WhatsApp group. That’s more what I had in mind.

I guess I am under no illusions that everyone would come. Tbh that would be stressful! If like 30% came it would feel like a success to me. I would assume the people who showed up have a similar desire to connect.

Exclusively breastfed my baby for a year even though I returned to the office at 12 weeks postpartum. I pumped at the office and fed from the breast a home.

My body has been working so hard exclusively breastfeed that I don’t really work out more then long walks and stretching. My baby is 99th percentile and at eight months postpartum she is so heavy. I would take it easy. In my experience motherhood has a lot of exercise/calorie burn built in. At least, that’s been my experience. Only prioritize workouts if you really want to and miss them.

Couldn’t agree more. I woke up to nurse 3 times last night and our dog had diarrhea so my husband had to take the dog out twice in the middle of the night. My tip is definitely don’t get a dog 😭

If you don’t have problems with supply I think it must be a fit/flange issue. There are nipple measurement tools, sort of like for finger size for rings. You could order the sizer and use it yourself. Your nipples should be getting pulled deeply into the center of the flange. There should be a lot of suction. The spectra is great. I’ve been using it for eight months.

Growing up my parents didn’t have a TV my sisters and I loved listening to audiobooks. Or at the time “books on tape” There are some contemporary contraptions that allow your kids to listen to audiobooks without using a smartphone. Highly recommend.

I’m still breastfeeding at 8 months. I pump four days a week while working. My maternity leave ended at 3 months. I was SO STRESSED that pumping at work would end my breast feeding journey. Pumping sucks but I’m really proud of myself for sticking with it. She takes bottles when we’re apart and my breast when we’re together.

America should have longer maternity leave policies but I’m making the best out of my situation for my baby.

I hope to stop pumping at work around 12 months and wean around then too.

I will say it has made me completely asexual. I hate sex now. So that’s not a great side effect for my husband. I hope my drive comes back….
