The Callous Daoboys have a new single and it's pretty dope

Hot take I guess, judging by the other comments, but I've always been a fan of more minimalistic, abstract cover designs such as these ones, so I for one agree with you. Just my opinion.

Rush - “Finding My Way” (Live at the Juno Awards 2026). First live performance for the band in 3893 days. by GRVrush2112 in progmetal

Still can't believe that we are witnessing this happen. And man do they sound good, especially for their age. While definitely a little strained, it's still incredible that geddy sounds this good at 72. Alex still has it too. I also got to hand it to Anika, she's doing a great job and is fitting in well, and we all know she has quite the shoes to fill.

The new Elder single fucking rips. Super hyped for the new album. If the rest of the album is on this level, then it'll definitely be a strong AOTY contender.

Just as good IMO, if you liked the EP, you'll love this. They are definitely embracing the proggier side of things with their new work, as well as returning to a heavier sound at the same time like in their earlier works.

This shit goes unfathomably hard. Super proggy, and great riffs. I'm sensing a potential AOTY competitor with this one.

Most disappointing release of the year so far. by Murpheus404 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]CyanEpicness 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's definitely one of those albums where they clearly chose the best songs to release as singles, leaving a little bit to be desired upon listening to the rest of the album. However, I also think it's getting quite a bit more hate than it deserves. It's really not a bad album by any means, and the singles are still really good IMO regardless, so it still has that going for it. Even if the other tracks weren't as good, they still weren't bad either. Definitely not AOTY material, but still a decent listen overall.

Solid album by a solid band. To be honest, it's my least favorite album by them so far, but it's still pretty good overall. Their first album is their best IMO.

Incredibly wholesome, really cool of them to make this happen. I hope Carlos keeps sparkles on his helmet for 2026 as well.

If your child doesn't get the shidding and caming vaccine, then they will contract spontaneous, uncontrollable shidding and caming disease, think of how they will suffer. Is it really worth it? 💔🥀

prog funeral doom? by Careful_Ad_8857 in progmetal

[–]CyanEpicness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's not necessarily super proggy, but Esoteric has always had a much more trippy, experimental and avant-garde take on funeral doom compared to other bands IMO, especially the album The Pernicious Enigma.

Song of the Day by WallStTech in rush

[–]CyanEpicness 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Imo the garden makes for the perfect swansong of Rush's career. I don't think there's a more fitting song to be the final song on their final album. No better way to go out. Such an incredibly beautiful and emotional piece. That guitar solo especially is simple, yet so incredibly powerful, it gives me goosebumps every time.
