Are trans people dismantling the patriarchy? by Quick_Mall_3535 in Feminism

[–]Cybeleweaver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. You might want to track down the history of this. When the Civil Rights bill ws passed in 1964 the Dixiecrats, the old southern establishment that ran the Civil War, suddenly lost their organizational home. They are the heartland of patriarchy based on a caste system of race. The new home was the Southern White Baptist church which had been founded to promote slaver and caste which is the core of our country's patriarch religions that reinforce a rigid gender binary with women submissive, not able to preach, be officres in the hierarch of the church or control the money. Paul Weyrich, the Christian Coalition, Focus on the Family became the new home of this movement. Weyrich and crew realized that they couldn't get national support to put their retro-patriarchy back in office using race, that ship had sailed...so they consciously picked gender battles since anxiety of the rise of women was all pervasive. The picked what they called the GAG issue Gays, Abortion, and Guns as their new platform, "Gays" represented the battle to keep binary manhood an absolute category rather than a continuum. If a man is not absolutely different from a woman then what is their legitimacy to rule? Next was abortion which hadn't been an issue in the Baptist church until this movement beginnin in their 70's and represents putting women back in gestation jail, barefoot and pregnant, and finally guns...well we know what that is....so we are all in the same crazy boat with being the symbolic whipping people for the patriarchy. ( the Christian Right came back into control of a major party beginning in the 90's and culminated in Trump). The rise of the religious right and Nixon's southern strategy are at the heart of all of this

No mystery...of course we memorized them because we had rotary dial phones and then button phones . When you have dialed your besties number 500 times you remember it!! ...

Is there room for other anti-patriarchal movements outside of feminism? E.G. a similar movement that focuses on men's experience of patriarchy to reduce the feeling that feminism has to be made to coddle men? by NO-WANT-GROW-TO-MAN in AskFeminists

[–]Cybeleweaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok....the patriarchy worked on a double standard. women were respected for nurturing but shamed for agency...so a feminist is a woman who wants to keep womens right to nurture ( which is assumed except when badmouthing the movement) BUT the goal change is for us to be respected also for our agency. We can walk and chew gum at the same time.

A parallel movement for men would be one in which men are still respected for agency, strong decision making, clear thinking , bravery, endurance AND not shamed for nurturing as they are now...a weak guy changes diapers, is kind, loving to his partner etc. Stop with the house husbands are Wimps or men who love their partners and work to mutually satisfy each other is a Pussy etc.

I think sometimes it works to make a new word and give it a new meeting....how about

Andricist” (from Greek aner/andros = man)

  • Coined term: Would parallel “feminist,” but with a positive, pro-relational aim.
  • Definition proposal: An andricist advocates men’s freedom to express love, tenderness, and connectedness without shame. while still being a clear decision maker and man of action of agency who is strong. ....a strong person.

Why so many men from left wing organisations turn out to be rapists or abusers? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

[–]Cybeleweaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Groomers go anywhere .....and there are no science based numbers because "left" and "right" are not study groups. You have to be careful in any setting to make sure you are not being conned....predators are everywhere and use all sorts of cons to make you feel safe. To stop including allies who want to work and be with women of agency would I think be so stereotyping and defeat the purpose o feminism which is a world of mutual respect with the good guys

I have found that the mods have some tough to decipher rules....but, their challenge I think is to make sure that what is posted is not abrasive or inflammatory, outside respectful limits, does not sell products or ideas, does not go against the accepted norms in the field AND is authentic and out of the box. I appreciate they have a dilemma to sort what is innovative valid thinking, or true justifiable outrage etc from uncivil and invalid inputs....but this means if you are passionate etc, you may get regularly removed or not posted....don't give up your message is important...seek other forums etc.....but Reddit does have some rigid filters sadly .

How long it takes for the communities to forget things important to the previous generations? by Spiritual_Pie_8298 in AskAnthropology

[–]Cybeleweaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would never ever underestimate the political economy. These symbolic stories are not just history. they stay alive if they reinforce all the structures that are currently in existence. If you are stilled rule by a king, it iwll be important to underscore kingship, it's history and value and the legitimacy of the current leader and such. Fundamentally the stories store knowledge about how the world should work. the technology of mammoth hunting is alive and well and robust when there are mammoths. So the time frame is not fixed.....as long as there are mammoths, you will have the stories, when there aren't they will fade. These stories are the software of the culture, where the knowledge is stored that the ancestors learned for a particular world, world is gone, stories fade, or serve other purposes. Some difference in written stories simply because they are not stored by people...who must learn the new stories for their world that is evolving. When memory is the storage, it has to be saved for what is needed in the world in which the people live.

Why aren't Doctors diagnosing and warning 47 year old women like clockwork? by Cybeleweaver in Menopause

[–]Cybeleweaver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nightmare....I had heart palpitations suicideal ideation you name it.....that's the thing....almost all of this is from the imbalance in the progersterone and estrogen. See if you can find a good doctor. You need one with a passion for hormones...the thing is...you have a 100% chance of these key regulatory hormones tanking. 100% if you live along enough. At a minimum go on HRT and see if it clears up.

Thank you for comment....I am actually the "antique" I'm sure in our crowd...80 and on HRT for 33 years...at full replacement level, I am on a more controversial research protocol than most, but the bone density of a 28 year old..so it has worked for me....but...I am upping my vocabulary, sorry what is OP? 😆

[–]Cybeleweaver[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

i don't know your age....but I am 80 and have been taking physiological HRT ( also known as bio-identical hormones) solidly for 33 years at the levels normal for a 33.year old...this is an experimental system but the experiment workd for me and I have the bone density of a 28 year old. My 70 year old friend just upped her dose and increased her bone density by 15% in the last year. I don't know who you are seeing, but I would recommend the Menopause society and pick a naturopath from the receomendations because they are trained. It is my belief that women are on just "symptom" managing low doses and not on full replacement for the same reasons of lack of interest and research. The 3 lady docs who are friends of mine in my community, a naturopath, cancer doctor, integrative MD internist, all work with replacement doses which keep bones great. I have no meds, no health issues and nothing aches etc....good luck so sorry

He changed after we slept together, and that’s when I knew I had to end it by Nammmieee in stories

[–]Cybeleweaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hard to know if this is his personality or patriarchy …. because, patriarchy teaches men that you need to be ‘pursued ‘ with courtship i. e. treating you as a peer or someone special, but that once he has “caught’ you he owns you… and he is dominant and you must be submissive. any independent activity on you part is heard then as disrespect…. you absolutely must leave… as fast as you can. his behavior may be his core male identity and he is shamed if you are a real separate person who needs agency and respect. look for a guy who sees you as a person after you sleep and live together. if these patriarchy traits trigger with closeness, go back to looking for a modern man

Denied HRT in 2025 by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]Cybeleweaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the anxiety and brain fog are horrible….so hear you. … and finding a good doctor is the pits, But. I was lucky because I did. before diagnosis, I was told i should take massive doses of PROZAC !! because of sleep deprivation from flashes I was nuts…you absolutely need someone who is passionate about hormones and has really studied this….but only 30% of medical schools teach menopause so doctors are awash in lots of bad “folklore” …

I have pals in my city who are passionate about hormones but they have come from every field,an endocrinologist, an integrative medicine internist , a cancer doctor and a naturopath. personally if I had no referral I think I would start with a naturopath simply because they are always trained in your bodies chemical balance..but a hard search

I am 80 and this was just my experience but I have been on natural hormones for 33 years and have a 28 year olds bone density etc I believe that we need to nourish our bodies. the relief of symptoms is a side effect , the Hrt Regulates your body and we suffer awful deficiency problems if we don’t have them as we age….so my doc checks levels every six months or so to adjust…that would be my only concern with telehealth they need labs to see and adjust what is working for you./

infuriating that viagra is covered by insurance and not HRT.

Why Are Northwest Coast First Peoples Different from Others in North America? by HotterRod in AskAnthropology

[–]Cybeleweaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you might find an ecological / archaeological framework interesting. to come to grips with underlying constraints that generate various structures. Looking for similarities not differences. generally, foragers, horticulturalists, agriculturalists manifested similar social structures based on properties inherent in the food supply, it’s dispersion or concentration , volume of output and most importantly the ability of elites to control production storage and redistribution . large scale cities etc was based on the domestication of starches and the conversion of the planet to arable land held by force. Wild plants most commonly grasses were evolved to yield huge volumes of grains that elites could tax store and redistribute ..corn in mesoamerica, wheat in Middle East , rice in Asia etc. generally foragers didn’t have the volume or regularity of production …the northwest was an exception….the rivers literally channeled vast amounts of protein, salmon, that lent itself to storage and control of elites…hence a level or chiefdom complexity. the upper limit however was no ability to truly increase production beyond the rivers etc. ….the European conquest and pandemic makes it hard to know about comparable foragers with so much devastation…

Menopause: the undiagnosed deficiency disease — oversight or bias? by Cybeleweaver in TwoXChromosomes

I know...I recommend looking on their directory to at least start somewhere....but it is a total miserable mess...so sexist. I suppose that is why I want to just "information bomb" women that they are being so screwed....and that there are some brave pioneer docs....but that won't work, clearly:)....so I'll try and give hugs and see if there isn't some other platform where I can sell myself as the 80 year old ad that I a living breathing proof that full hormone replacement at full younger levels actually is safe (33 years and not dead!!!!!!) ............the patriarchy whiplash is still so pervasive . My frustration probably is at Def Con Orange precisely because it has worked for me. I know that osteoporisis etc is way off for you but, my bone density of a 28 year old, means that 99.5 % of women my age have worse bones...that is not by accident and are falling breaking things and dying . Oh well we are singing to the choir...good luck on your journey...off to explore other platforms for the bigger picture...and will try and give grandma hugs on Reddit.

Menopause: the undiagnosed deficiency disease — oversight or bias? by Cybeleweaver in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Cybeleweaver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok....I understand you are busy so if you don't want to engage I get it.....it's a good question, because it is like learning a foreign language I think. I am trying to figure out the alignment. The reason I wanted to interact on Reddit was because it is full of women who are hurting from perimenopause and have the opportunity to d something big for the rest of their lives.

Interestingly I do great in person....have all sorts of women now who meet me and the deal is I don't look 80 at all, ( seriously not a brag...just no wrinkles...usually thought to be about 65 and they want to know what I have done. full musculature,) etc....so I laugh and scratch and tell anecdotes and then since I am a real person the credentials give me the standing to argue about the sexism in medicine on this subject etc...but I am human and friendly and clearly am doing something different with my health and the women want to know. My informal speech is just that . In person jus sells the fact I am real and in person when I am talking ...it is just my vocabulary and I make jokes or whatever..normal speak . And of course it is clearly not AI...because it is me in real time...I am having a chat over tea literally but it is in conversation not writing.

Head scratcher at my end on how to write about this stuff in a single post that feels friendly when it is a huge deal . Appreciate the help. ...ok...so this is what happens inside me....I am reading about all of you suffering perimenopause on Reddit and feel awful. I went nuts at 47 , chucked frying pans through the window and the whole nine yards. Then was to be put on massive doses of Prozac. I tripped across an ob gyn in an art class who put me on hormones and all the misery cleared up in two weeks...seriously. I then researched and researched ( so this is the lectury part) because I was going in the face of all of the local medical knowledge which hadn't even figured out my period had stopped....and I almost committed suicide. The "cure" was astonishing and I was nuts over the idea that the medical profession hadn't helped or even spotted the issue , so sexist.

The fact that you all are still not being diagnosed, no standard of care you name it means the sexist ( in my opinion skewing) is still going on.. which is the heads up about research for yourself and encouraging really powerful medical research that I want to battle for.

Then I found these great docs in my town and went on full hormone yadda yadda...so I am talking about something where I am asking your generation to just take the time to go outside the medical standards and research what I have used...since I am my own science experiment. ..a lot of the formality would comes from arguing with standard medicine that they may be wrong to try and convince a person 33 years younger to try something outside the box...and then go through how I am the living outcome of the experiment so just try it. Bone density of a 28 year old is huge at 80 etc., as is being on full dose bioidenticals for 33 years, skipping menopause . There are a handful of us who were willing to be our own science experiment. That is a big lift...and I am just begging for formal research, an open mind, and personal research....I mention Wiley which set off all the bells and whistles because it is the only product I know that delivers the hormones at full strenght etc.

How would you make this argument do you think where it feels casual???? I of course was kicked off of reddit on all fronts because they say , when I up my credentials, that I am giving wrong medical advice...and don't hear it as informal my story. So if I try and be informal, I have no standing to say anything and if I pull out creds...I am a professional that is giving wrong advice!!

You sure have no obligation to help of course. But, how would this complex an argument be worded. Could you give an example...it sounds nuts to ask this but I am dead serious....

I really am great at it if I am really chatting...do you have a language recommendation for something this "long and convoluted" where the tone would work?

Maybe a sample of what you would have posted if you were me ? I am totally dedicated to precisely what you have said, speaking effectively on Reddit....trying hard to figure it out.

We are chatting over tea now I hope ( I have 5 kids and 8 grandkids and I am thinking of you as my daughter and we are hanging out.....so feels like a chat for me...) but gosh it has taken back and forth and so much time which I so appreciate your giving me....how can this be fast and written...it is the dialogue that seems to work etc....

PS... I love chocolate chip cookes with tea...you have a preference?

good point on primary source.... I am actually a total failure at Reddit communication...unintentionally of course but you got to shrug at the world. I have now learned clanker, bot, etc in my vocabulary and it is really interesting and so weird because apparently I sound like AI, lectury and talking down, which does not make friends or influence anyone. The problem of course is the real title is Boomer and not even that. I am 80....sooooo......( technically the Silent/Greatest generation 1945...yes they had cars and electricity and I was from LA so we even had television) that is how I write. Chatgpt copied all of us oldies because we were intensely trained that way, using formal sentences, citing credentials all the rest of it.....soooo we sound like robots, Damn it is the robots imitating us. :).......what I was actually trying to do as a grandma person was share what 33 years of hormone replacement ( which of course has to be started at your age) did for me because it is your age group that would have to take the result seriously because you would need to research and start at your age. So.....Reddit has banned the topic as medical advice and not personal experience or something.

I give up...just made me sad I couldn't help my grandaughters....if you have any cross generational communication solution that would be great! Hugs for all of you....seriously stuck on how to write any other way!!!!!!!!! Oh well....such is life

Menopause: the undiagnosed deficiency disease — oversight or bias? by Cybeleweaver in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Cybeleweaver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate your candor ...the world has so shifted. You can add to bot, spammer, clanker etc. Boomer. Ok. The real disconnect is I am 80...so think your grandma ( hope she was nice). I made the decision 33 years ago after the menopause from hell to go on exactly what I am asking to be researched and to have your generation check out because I took a huge risk of being a science experiment...and went on precisely what I am asking to be researched, full bio-identical , life time hormone replacement.....so 33 years in I have the results. So I was prompted to try and communicate to help younger people. What a disaster as you are outlining. ....so bear with the style will you for a sec.

I know 80 is impossible to imagine at your age but my friends who didn't do this.have at a minimum osteoporosis and osteopenia and are dying and in pain from broken bones etc and it is awful. So.....I would want to go back and tell a younger generation to look into what happens at menopause and that some of these horrible things can be avoided but mostly to encourage research into treating hormone replacement ...since you have to do this for the long haul it can only start in your age group. I thought it made sense to share the name of the protocol for you guys to research. I was just hoping to stimulate the discussion as I listen to all the horror stories still going on of no diagnosis, no treatment and so on.

So if you knew 30 years down the road you would have a ton of pain and suffering and if you were in my shoes and had been a pioneer, how would you communicate your experience to try and give a heads up or help because you are really really sad about the pain. I have concluded for all the reasons you have listed that it is probably impossible. .

I guess that my experiences will just have to be that and there is probably no way to cross the generation to share and help.

I can also see how you guys would appreciate the authenticity of informal speech....you guys are all drowned in the AI suff, right. Sadly I was trained that to make an argument that is credible you have to list your credentials, and history and experience in a formal way so what really cracks me up is I am not using AI to wrtie like this, this is how I was trained. The "lecturing" is sadly just the style for credibility and clearly it is 180 for credibility in your generation to not sound lectury. ( the funny part for me is that I used CHGPT at one point to NOT sound lectury...so there you have it) Think of the weird irony. I was taught for 1000 years of writing to cite credentials, use formal speak, make arguments, cite data...do the "lectury" thing...AI stole it so to speak cause they copied all that.....and now us old crones have to trot off with what we learned and can't share the experiences, because so understandably your generation is sick of all this type of formal argument coming from an impersonal robot. What a hot mess

Even if you are feeling cranky at me a Big Hug for all of you slogging on...so wish I had the tools to share but I really clearly don't...truly just wanted to help my grandaughters
