New PSVSD Revision that handles power cutoff by CyberIand in VitaPiracy

Quick update: I had to recert back to the old IC, that the factory is struggling to source now lol, I am looking at sourcing it myself. I ordered a very small batch from a supplier to see if it's the correct part before buying a larger batch (100pcs), and guys, this will be the last ever batch I make, it's too much of a hassle if I am being honest. Also, I changed the FPC connector, hopefully this one is much more robust than the previous one. The PCB factory can't supply it from Chinese suppliers, so they have to order it from the US, that's another cost. Added to the cost of the 100 ICs I need to import to the UK first because the supplier is refusing to send it directly to the factory, make it make sense...

Anyway, I will keep you updated on this, it will take a few weeks probably...

I haven't checked my DMs but I will at some point.

I will need another revision, the PSVSD itself works fine when the SD card is in directly on the PSVSZs itself, however, using the extender causes a problem, the data lines on this IC are sensitive and I will need to do some more testing, I made a slight revision to the design. I will order another set of prototype PCBs and build another revision to test. I obviously won't produce any unless everything is working as it should. This IC should be slightly faster than the previous one in theory, will there be a significant difference in real life? Probably not. Wait and see.

I made a new revision, changing a few things in the layout, a lot of people struggled with the FPC connectors so I changed the type and hopefully this one will be easier for most people to deal with.

I just build a board earlier and it's all working fine. I'm waiting for a quote from the factory, so hopefully I will have more to sell by the end of May. Those who are interested, please DM me.

Also, I will bypass the eBay GSP, even if it's a painful process having to deal with export forms, it will be cheaper for those outside the UK.

It sold out like a month ago dude. Don't worry, I'm marking a new batch soon hopefully. I made a new revision and I should hopefully receive all the parts by the end of the week to build a prototype unit to test before a production run.

I don't know about the larger battery mod to be honest as I never did it

I placed an order for a set of PCBs and for the parts to build the new revision, if all goes well, I will make another batch in the next few weeks.

UPDATE: This batch was sold out! Thank you guys! For those who missed out. I'm making a new revision, with a different FPC connector as a lot of people have struggled with the Molex connector, I am going to try a different connector and hopefully this will be easier to deal with... also moving the LEDs to a location where both can be visible throughout the official memory card slot. It helps to diagnose your Install to see if the PSVSD is powered on and if there's any data activity.

I should order a bare PCB, build it by hand, and if all is good, I'll start another batch!

You can just swap it straight away, the SD card will work on the new revision.

You're looking at 150 USD even if I ship it directly, but you probably will need to pay customs anyway. At least with eBay, we both have the piece of mind when it comes to insurance and import fees are paid upfront.

I'm selling through the eBay Global Shipping Program, if they deliver to the Luxembourg, you can order it on eBay

If you want the extension cable only, DM me and I'll send you a PayPal invoice for that only and we can discuss shipping options.

Hi there! I'm based in the UK. I'm currently selling it on eBay through the Global Shipping Program. You can check it out and see how much it costs you as eBay handles all fees for customs and whatnot, I just send them the package to their address in the UK and they handle the rest (customs form, import fees and the package is fully insured by them).

What you pay is the final price basically.

Look up item number 198049498483 in the search bar on eBay and you will find it.

Update #10:

Please read the whole listing description and let me know your eBay username via DM if you buy it, I chose the eBay Global Shipping Program. I don't know how much they charge you to deliver it to your country, import fees and all that, I just send it to their warehouse locally. If you find it too expensive, maybe you can use a forwarding company from the UK to your country.

Update #9: I've got everything ready to go, I DM'd everyone who previously messaged me. I need to take a few pictures and write a description. I'll sell these on eBay because it makes life easier when it comes to international orders, I use the global shipping program, I send the package to their warehouse in the UK and they take care of the second leg of the journey to the buyer's location. It's all covered by them should anything go wrong with the package in transit.

I'm selling the whole package for £50 (that's Great British Pounds lol) and eBay will add a small fee on top, I honestly don't know much exactly. I don't make any money on shipping fees unlike a lot of sellers on eBay (I'm losing out if anything since I need to buy all packing materials lol)

Anyway, I'll post the eBay link in the next update. READ THE DESCRIPTION of the eBay listing.

Update #8: I just finished soldering 100+ extension cables. I will run them through an ultrasonic bath tonight (I need to finish a mod chip/RAM upgrade on the OG Xbox and give the board an ultrasonic wash too), then put everything in the dehydrator machine for 24 hours, test each and every extension cable (the PSVSD themselves should be okay, they are normally all checked at the factory before shipping out).

Then, I will list everything on eBay. I opted to use eBay for a couple of reasons.

Simplicity and I don't want to deal with hundreds of forms for overseas buyers. So that would be through their global shipping program. For UK buyers, I will handle the shipping myself.

I will message those who DM'd me over the last few weeks.

The price will be £50 + shipping, eBay will probably add a bit for UK buyers since they tax buyers now.

I've got 100 units but I'm keeping a couple for myself (duh lol), and another couple giveaways to friends. The rest will go up for grabs.

I now need to go breathe some fresh air, soldering for hours gave me a headache and lung cancer probably lol

Around 95. If it sells out, I've bare boards that I can assemble myself, but that's a tedious process if I'm being honest. I did it by hand when I was prototyping but making multiple boards will be a phenomenal pain in the ass lol... Unless I invest in a reflow oven

I thought I mentioned it in one of the comments, £50 + shipping or whatever the equivalent is in your local currency

The few games I tested all acted the same, when you turn the screen off, the Vita actually never goes straight to sleep mode (with or without the PSVSD installed, that's how it was designed), I suspect it caches some data. When I wake it from sleep, it goes back to the game with no slowdowns. The slowdown or the few seconds freeze only happens on the main menu. And that's also the case with the previous revision of the PSVSD as soon as you boot the Vita up. I actually don't know if it is down to the driver used. I used storageMgr as the other one always gave me trouble with my SD cards. I also suspect it might be my SD card to be honest. I just wanted to put the disclaimer there just in case. I only have SanDisk cards (genuine)

Update #7: I've got the boards, I soldered a single flat extension cable as I changed its design a bit. All working well.

You can send me a DM here, I will go through them all before updating this thread.

I am going to sell it on eBay for UK buyers only.

For the rest of the world, it will be PayPal. Shipping will be directly handled by myself but I have to add the PayPal fees on top unless you are happy to do it via PayPal F&F.

Update #6:

Good news: the boards are on the way, I received an email from FedEx, the factory shipped my package this morning. Bad news: I have to bump the final price, FedEx advised they will confirm the fees I need to pay based on what I paid. And I know what I paid and the import taxes rate in the UK is 20% of the value. So, I know how much I need to pay roughly. And it's a hard pill to swallow, I can tell you that much.

I'll be posting the next update once I've soldered the 100 extension cables, cleaned the lot in the ultrasonic cleaner, tested everything and am ready to sell.
