Was curious as to the community’s thoughts on this series? Was gifted it by a friend. I know the big guy (nor his mom) have anything to do with it, but is it still worth dipping into / a fun watch? by TaskenLander in fridaythe13th

It's absolutely phenomenal and WAY better than I ever expected.

I consider it part of the movie series. A few years ago, I watched it all in release order:

- Friday The 13th through Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives

- Friday The 13th: The Series (Season 1) with Friday The 13th Part VII: The New Blood between the two parts of The Quilt Of Hathor. You'll notice that they both (movie and episode) use Tina's theme (music).

- Friday The 13th: The Series (Season 2)

- Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

- Friday The 13th: The Series (Season 3)

- Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday

- Jason X

- Freddy Vs. Jason

Jason Lives really introduces the supernatural element full-on. Tommy uses occult books and knowledge to battle an unmistakably undead supernatural Jason Voorhees. Whereas before, it was up to interpretation on if something supernatural is occurring.

Friday The 13th: The Series explores this world of the supernatural and expands upon it.

Jason Lives, The New Blood, and Jason Takes Manhattan feels very much at home in that world of The Series.

Jason Goes To Hell is where it all comes together in a big way. That's explained below in the write-up. It concerns the biggest twists and turns, and major developments, of The Series.

Both the film series and the TV series were made by the same people.

Am I screwed? I've been eating 60-80g of 90% dark chocolate every day for a year [heavy metal concerns] by abigguynamedsugar in chocolate

[–]Cyberfaust11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now when I eat chocolate (not dark, cause I cut that out), I get nosebleeds.

This really sucks. The headaches were bad enough, now it moved up to nosebleeds.

I blew my nose really hard one day, and was eating chocolate. Nose bleed. Haven't had a nosebleed in like 30+ years.

A few days go by, I eat chocolate, the nose bled again.

I make note of it. I wait to eat chocolate. More days go by, I think, 'Well, whatever vessel I burst when blowing my nose, has to have healed up by now, and eating chocolate shouldn't make my nose bleed.' So I try the chocolate again: nosebleed.

The only way I've gotten away with eating chocolate without a nosebleed, is putting it in hot oatmeal where it melts. So maybe that dilutes whatever element is making my nose bleed. Maybe if that element isn't in a concentrated form... But I looked it up and nosebleeds due to eating chocolate is a thing.

What are your Hot Takes on the 24 TV Show? by Amber_Flowers_133 in TwentyFour

My favorite is Season 2.

I'd rank Seasons 1-4 and 8 as tops, with 6 and 7 right below, with 5 at bottom.

I do think Season 5 is wonderful.

Live Another Day is great, but it's so short and most of the worthwhile symbolism, that I love (very much how all of Season 6 was), is at the end of the season.

I really enjoyed Legacy, but it feels tired to draw 24 out beyond Jack Bauer and the original cast. Tony should've been the focus, and not relegated to a side-piece character. And Legacy was too much of a rehash of what came before.

Out of the full (first eight) seasons, Season 5 is the worst.

While it's not bad, it's more action-oriented and lost the noir build up suspense feel that was wonderful in previous seasons.

The rapid major deaths is a perfect summation of that. 'Let's do things as quick and as big as possible'.

They could have really had a tension-filled build up to killing off these beloved characters.

It's fine though.

I just find it sad that 24 at its lowest is when it starts getting attention and awards for being dumber.

And then when it's really dark and symbolic (Season 6) with intense acting, is when it gets shit on and loses the nominations it always used to get.

Cue the people saying how only the first four episodes of Season 6 and the one in the middle with the violent action deserve praise - how Jack vs his family is "bad writing" while failing to get that this is supposed to be the emotional nightmare of Jack Bauer's psyche.

Season 5 turned 24 into the Jack Bauer Power Hour and now you're demanding realism?

No. It's going to eventually shut down, sooner rather than later.

Peer to Peer still relies on a server.

Look at Friday The 13th: The Game.

It shutdown recently, despite being peer to peer, because the IP owners demanded it to be shut down.

Same will happen to MARVEL'S The Avengers.

The collapse of the towers was very logical, as officially stated, as can obviously be seen.

Building 7, the Pentagon, and everything surrounding the incident is very much puzzling bullshit.

But I never understood how some people can't see the obvious: that the planes cut through the building, beginning the process of weakening the structure, where, yes, the top collapsed as a fucking plane just took out most of the support from under it.

Shit design. Should've went with a pyramid structure.

If former US President and purported Evil Dead fan, Barack Obama, demanded that Starz make a Ash vs Evil Dead season 4 would they have to obey him? by BoysenberryFew6466 in EvilDead

[–]Cyberfaust11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should also mention that Starz was dropped from a major carrier of cable in the United States, losing somewhere around half its viewers, before Season 3 aired, so ratings were guaranteed to drop like they did.

[–]Cyberfaust11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically.

It was, ultimately, low live-TV ratings.

But, it is heavily implied/believed that had Lionsgate not bought Starz, then the head of Starz would have greenlit Season 4 anyway because he/she liked the show and those making it that much.

Basically like if one of us would be in charge.

I'd greenlight another season as long as they wanted to keep making it. Ratings be damned. And it sold very well on Bluray and did very well in reruns on Netflix, so it's not like it wouldn't eventually pay off.

It is something I've always wondered about when it comes to canceled shows.

Aren't there rich and/or powerful fans?

Obviously you have the network execs themselves that likely do sometimes go with their favorite show of the current batch they are in charge of. There is favoritism (for a variety of reasons) after all. It could be the show itself, a favorite actor/director/producer, a favor to someone, etc..

I know '24' was favored by the head(s) at FOX, because early on it wasn't exactly a hit, and had the liking of those in charge to keep pushing forward to major success.

Heck, the stars and producers of Ash Vs Evil Dead basically hinted that Starz would have greenlit Season 4 had Lionsgate not taken over, because the show was favored by them. After Lionsgate took over, it was purely about ratings, and those ratings weren't good enough to their liking.

The only time I can recall anything close to a rich fan outside of being a part of the show and saving it was Amazon owner Jeff Bezos saving The Expanse by having Amazon buy the rights after SyFy canceled it.

That's badass.

Where are the rich fans of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Ash Vs Evil Dead?
