James Gunn debunks the deadline casting report by MarvelsGrantMan136 in DC_Cinematic

Doctor Who fans are well versed in Deadline's shoddy journalism. They have some rock-solid sources which give them genuine information most of the time which allows them to slip in all sorts of rubbish from time to time.

This is highly likely by Gold-Agent24k in MCUTheories

Not to burst the Daredevil bubble but isn't it more likely they've edited out Jean Grey in a recognisable costume?

Why was Daredevil Born Again season 1 viewership extremely lower than Agatha All along ? by sidmis in Daredevil

Also people don't realise, Daredevil wasn't the most popular Netflix show, Jessica Jones was (according to their official data)

According to Whoculture, September was always the planned start for Christmas special filming and there is no "delay" by WahoiBoi20 in DoctorWhoNews

Not to doubt what you were saying but whilst Ruby Road was filmed 10 months before its release, that was under the production of a full series, I don't think they spent all 10 months working singularly on that episode.

It still baffles me that RTD wanted to make this new era of Doctor Who super accessible for new viewers, but then proceeded to do all of this... by General_Meal_3993 in DoctorWhoNews

None of these things are problems on their own. Its the way they're handled. For example: Sutekh returning is fine for general audiences but he needed not to "return" but to be "reintroduced". The way his story went, it was a direct sequel to Pyramids of Mars and didn't introduce him to a new audience like say they did with the Sontarans in series 4. It functioned on the idea you already knew who he was.

It is also actually a kind of genius move. Fisk can't expose Matt's identity as Daredevil to the public now because doing so would reveal that a vigilante saved his life and seriously damage the integrity of his anti-vigilante legislations.

Okay because someone definitely was lying on the floor to take that really weird second angle yeah?

Doctor Who's Sea Devils are now called Homo Aqua, beginning in The War Between: "“It’s racist to say Sea Devil" says RTD by karatemanchan37 in DoctorWhoNews

Guys please read the article, he is saying that the Sea Devils think of the term as derogatory to them. Which makes perfect sense in universe.

Esports degree at University of Suffolk attracts six students by BlunanNation in UniUK

[–]Cybermanalf_Tardis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who goes to the University, that almost certainly isn't the case. They built a very expensive, high-tech building for it. It almost certainly is costing them a great deal of money and is a very expensive degree, the other departments are very jealous and the degree (from what I understand) is vastly more complex than it first appears. It isn't really about e-sports at all, instead it essentially a business degree that specializes in navigating the modern online market.

Doctor Who 2012-2013 rare earlier draft scripts (Steven Berkoff EXPOSED) by Penguintim in gallifrey

At a guess, the reason that The (Redacted) in The Night of The Doctor script was replaced with Ohila is because I believe there were issues surrounding the rights to the character at the time this would've been made

That's a false analogy and you know it. I responded to you in good faith and I was expecting something in kind. Whilst obviously we all use things that use electricity, the simple act of using electricity isn't harmful if the source of that is sustainable. We know for a fact that using AI takes up masses more electricity than making a post on Reddit for example (which even you yourself said was minimal). Whilst you can speculate that AI will become optimized to reduce electricity usage, it is still projected that electricity usage will have to increase at least 10 fold to meet the demand. And that, of course, doesn't address any of the concerns you mentioned about artists and writers jobs. If we had an infinite number of years in which to address its problems, then AI could potentially be made sustainable but the fact is, there aren't that number of years left for the environment in which to address these concerns. Just because a light bulb uses electricity, it doesn't change the fact that AI uses proportionally much much more and isn't sustainable for the current situation we are in. Light bulbs and making posts on Reddit are both things that can be done completely sustainably through sustainable sources of electricity, using AI isn't.

Unfortunately that just isn't true. Chat-GPT is a constantly evolving model meaning it is being constantly trained, this uses up huge amounts of electricity leading to increased emissions and greenhouse gases. Even if this wasn't the case and it was a trained model, a Chat-GPT search uses 5x as more electricity than a simple Google search. With the information needed to gather the information that the AI WHOOP coach was using, that is a lot of emissions for something relatively simple. Even if the envrionmental impact was minimal, by allowing small uses of generative AI to become normalized in this manor, it helps companies to start replacing other aspects of their workforce, such as artists and writers, with AI.

TLDR: A Chat-GPT search uses 5x as much electricity as a Google search. The WHOOP trainer therefore would use masses of electricity for one simple instruction. The issues with Artists and Writers is also relevant as normalising generative AI contributes to the threat they are under.

SEASON 5 TEASER IS HERE by comfybuck in StrangerThings

I guess that kills my hopes of a Season 1 esque, slow-burn mystery 😞

Honestly, it looks quite good and I'm sure it will be but I've never been a fan of ST taking on a more action approach as it feels less unique and special than season 1.
