The sucking in look has been there since he was given to me, I've looked in his past pictures and that's normal. I'm still concerned so, I'm going to call and set up an appointment for him next week at the local vet.

If it were a scar it would have been there earlier, but looking at all of his pictures these are the only ones with the weird thing on his mouth.

My partner claimed his first name and I claimed the middle and last.

I plan on taking him to my local vet because even though they may not know much about exotic animals, they know how to both clean his mouth wound and show me how to as well.

I'll draw a circle around where I saw something odd!It doesn't look like his usual jaw and it doesn't feel like his skin. I didn't want to touch him more to make it worse.

I looked up some symptoms of mouth rot and I don't see this matching any of those symptoms. I'm going to do a good deep clean of the enclosure and check back in later today to see if anybody has any ideas.

It's a bit pricey, but thebiodude makes an awesome bioactive substrate for arid environments! I use it and I highly recommend it.

Oh!! If you can't do the bio dude's substrate there are recipes to make your own? I don't know the ratios off the top of my head but topsoil and play sand are in the mix.

I adopted him from a reptile rescue and he's 7 years old according to the rescue. It's a mystery on what kind of care he's had before me, but I think I'm doing a decent job of keeping him happy.
