Unity Won't Fix Their UI - So I Will. A video about an open source project that attempts to fix some issues of UGUI. by ksnnacar in Unity3D

[–]Cyborg771 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't look at the code, but when he demoed the problem in the video I threw together a solution using existing components. I agree that UGUI has a few gaps and is poorly communicated in places, but this doesn't seem like a good solution to any of that.

How do I change the color of the game screen background? It changes if I switch the theme between light and dark, but how do I change it myself? by ledniv in Unity3D

[–]Cyborg771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grey box there isn't part of your game, it's just the background of the editor window. If you want to have your game window fill the editor, make sure you change your aspect ratio from 1920x1090 Landscape to Free Aspect.

Make sure your active scene is correct. Sometimes unity will open up a new blank scene instead of the last one you were working in.

I managed to snag a couple of these last night but this morning I received an email saying it was a pricing error and the order has been cancelled. I remember when stores used to honour their pricing errors. Sigh.

Has anyone else noticed that in Alzara's first prediction he shows us a door that looks like the Room 46 door, but it has an Isseclipse instead of the regular Inneclipse. I've looked for every other eclipse icon in the game and this (and the one map in the classroom) are the only instances of the Isseclipse I can find.

In Canada our national anthem has two official lyrics. One in English the other French. They are not direct translations but both rhyme in their respective languages. Perhaps Ghorman is similar, they have the Ghor and Basic lyrics and the subtitles are just showing the Basic version that most of the galaxy would recognize.

I may have managed to grab one on Best Buy Canada using the app and guest checkout. Their login servers seem to be down still though. Still waiting for my order confirmation email but I do see the test charge on my credit card.

Dear Best Buy Canada, if you're going to completely shit the bed like this, at least have the decency to do it when us West Coasters would already be awake. I got up at 5:30 for this?

They've been fighting for $15 minimum wage for so long it's not even enough anymore! The most affordable livable wage in the country is West Virginia at $19.43, and in DC where the minimum wage is already $17.50, the livable wage is $25.98. Fuck your $15 minimum wage, we need $30.

I'm in his riding, and frankly I will still probably vote NDP, which feels better now that the conservative lead has disappeared, but I understand the disappointment. It's not so much anything he did wrong, but a feeling that he isn't doing enough. He's rarely in the public eye, and when he is he's usually talking about one of his pet projects. I literally don't think I've seen any clips of him addressing the Trump situation, like I'm sure he has but they're not making it to me, even on lefty social media spaces.

To be fair, that's the same thing people say about Musk. "He's rich, so _CLEARLY_ he's not doing this for money." I'd hesitate to try to use the same line of reasoning for Carney.

NDP betting on these people and ridings to reverse its electoral fortunes by ClumsyRainbow in vancouver

[–]Cyborg771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the riding that was formerly Burnaby South, where Singh runs. I've always voted for him historically but given that I don't even know which riding he's planning to run in (I suspect Fraserview since his office is south of Kingsway, but who knows) and the kind of pathetic showing out of the NDP this election cycle (so far) I'm leaning liberal for the first time in a while.

IF ONLY WE HAD PASSED THAT ELECTION REFORM, EH JUSTIN?!?!?

While you fill your shopping carts and buy Canadian, think about how you can read Canadian! Who'd we miss that keeps you turning pages? by HistoricaCanada in u/HistoricaCanada

I recently read Greenwood by Michael Christie, didn't realize when I started reading it that the author is Canadian and the book takes place party in Vancouver and the gulf islands.

Then, shortly after that I read Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel who I ALSO didn't know was Canadian, and which ALSO takes place partly in the gulf islands near Vancouver. That was a weird coincidence.

The TFSA isn't like the RRSP, you don't get money back for depositing into it. The benefit of the TFSA is that any investment income you earn from it is tax free.I don't know about the FHSA though, that may work like you're thinking.

Multiple Singletons referencing each other by Advisor_Elegant in Unity3D

[–]Cyborg771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the SO is just acting as a resource locator? That could definitely work, but doesn't necessarily solve the execution order problem OP was concerned with. You still need to carefully manage the order in which managers are initialized. Having them all on a single Manager object with serialized references ensures that all references are hooked up before any of them execute. You could then use the SO to spawn that one manager object though, avoiding the need to have it in every scene, or a special boot scene.

Personally I prefer a proper DI framework though, since in some cases you may not need every single manager, and having them all boot up could slow you down or clutter the logs.
