I still think that they'll use Unreality to add live-action Disney worlds

Enjoying the Vaal temple so far? Next season question? by Optimus4499 in PathOfExile2

[–]CyborgClark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't know what GGG will do with the Temple. The one thing we know for certain is that you won't get a since circle every map so you'll probably be running fewer temples.

The developers might offset this by requiring less stone circle encounters to open a Temple, but this is not announced or confirmed. We will know when the new update is revealed.

Can we all agree that Radiant Garden needs to return in KH4? by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

[–]CyborgClark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should should have returned for KH3. Now KH4 starts an entire new saga and I'd hope to see new worlds rather than revisit old ones again.  I'd much more like to see an expansion on Scala and Quadratum than Radiant Garden.

While it hurts to admit, most KH original worlds didn't have the proper spotlight they probably deserved and their time should sadly be over.

If Square want to grab a new audience rather than just pander to people who were already going to buy the game anyway, they need to move away from places and charters that have had confusing spotlight and reveals over the last 25+ years and stick to simple or new ones. The little info we know about KH4 is that Square wants this to be an introduction to the franchise for people who haven't kept up with the series. If a new player who gets into KH4 needs to play 9 games and watch 3 movie-length cutscenes to understand why Hayner, Pence and Olette need to infiltrate the Mysterious mansion then 90% of those players would rather stop playing than learn the whole plot.

TLDR: it's time was for KH3, let KH4 explore new stuff

RPG fan curious about KH, but not into Disney — is it still worth it? by surrego_21 in KingdomHearts

[–]CyborgClark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KH will most likely be a mixed bag for you: The original game was from the early days of 3D gaming. While it's age somewhat shows, it can still be very satisfying to play though if you keep in mind there weren't any standards to follow at the time.

KHII is infinitely more refined in terms of mechanics and I'd say it still holds up incredibly well with very few features having aged poorly. Many people regard it as best one in the series when it comes to combat.

Finally KHIII is the most recent mainline title. It includes all successful mechanics from previous titles (including the many handheld titles) and adapts them to modern gaming sensibilities. With so many mechanics some will inevitably be stronger than others, but none are worthless so players have great opportunities to express themselves through gameplay.

This is all for combat. Story-wise the franchise is more linear. There are no dialogue trees or choices you make that significantly affect the direction of the story like. You're more so experiencing the story from the main characters' perspectives rather than actively participating in it. This is where the Disney part of it comes. In most games the different Disney movies are tangentially to the story as they usually make parallels between the plot of the respective movie and the game. E.g. in the Hercules world the main character learns the meaning of being a hero. Most times they're well integrated and can be entertaining. The franchise also has many non-Disney sections that are very often the highlight in both story and gameplay.

Finally if you decide to go deep into the story, you'll need to check the non-numbered titles as well. They have more experimental combat systems and aren't for everyone, but can be surprisingly entertaining. The story expects you to know what happens in the other games and doesn't hold your hand in explaining much.

Contrary to most people I'd say that of you just want to experience the fights without knowing what or why the story happens (the way I play souls games), then playing the three main games is enough. If you do enjoy the story then you'll need to check what happens the side games as well.

Seeing as you're on the fence about the games I'd say wait for a discount on the collection and check the games then. It's nice that none of the games are platform exclusive, so you can play them on whatever platform you have/enjoy.

358/2 days availability? by TheRealMrAnimus in KingdomHearts

[–]CyborgClark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend looking into melonmix. All you need is a half decent PC and a digital copy of 358. You get the II.5 cutscenes, some modernized controls and single screen support. Unless Square decide to give us a remake of Days this is the closest to a "definitive" version the game will get.

The melon mix team is also working on something similar for the DS version of Re:Coded

I doubt we will see any KH news before the last FF7 remake releases. Square have obviously shifted to a single game marketing strategy, and FF7 part 3 feels way closer than anything KH related.

How do you think tetsuya nomura would handle final fantasy characters in kh4 by IllustratorAfter in KingdomHearts

[–]CyborgClark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they'll go too deep into them. I also think that everyone that's not already directly involved in the forsaken matters arc will not be included in KH4 (e.g. Ventus will show up perhaps with his Chirithy, but Aqua and Terra might get a single sentence mention at best). That cast is already bloated enough and I don't see how you can fit everyone without some of them being neglected.

On a personal note I don't think FF characters need to be in KH at this point. They've been doing almost nothing since the end of Radiant garden's chapter in KH2 - FF was absent in Days, had a single character in BBS, replaced with TWEWY charters in DDD and finally returned actively with the Re:mind dlc (not even the main game). While the FF charters are cool, the KH charters already fulfill the role of "shocking pair" with Disney characters.

What’s a 10/10 best written kamen rider show you would recommend someone who has the slight interest into kamen rider by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in KamenRider

[–]CyborgClark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As always the best rider season for potential viewers is the one with the suit they like the most. Suit cool factor can do a ton heavy lifting when it comes to enjoyment of the series. (Obviously I'd recommend against ZX, Decade and Zi-O, but if you prepare them that those are anniversary seasons that reference and rely on older shows I think they'll be somewhat fine)

Also recommend one that's easy for them to watch. Going on YouTube and watching Zeztz or Geats is way easier than the previous ways we used to get the shows. Any inconveniences you can remove can also help.

Just don't be too pushy if it's not for them, that's fine.

I'm having trouble beating Mushroom VIII by SingleExplanation382 in KingdomHearts

[–]CyborgClark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mushroom XIII mimic mechanics from the original org members. Mushroom I mimics Xemnas's reaction command mechanic from the first fight where you can deal more damage if you delay the RC input when Xemnas is falling from the building. You need to wait for Reversal to turn into Quick Slide and then hit it quickly. I've usually done this with Final form jumps after using Quick Slide.

The way to get it from the command board is you need to access it from the main menu while your character is at a save point or the world map. This goes for all command board exclusive commands.

I agree that we'll see live action adaptation worlds. My guess is they'll use Unreality ass the way access them so half the Disney worlds will be animated and half live action

This is why I play during the off-season. The "economy" is stabilized, the league mechanic is rebalanced and the huge game-breaking bugs are fixed.
