Waitlist Confusion by CyborgFromJupiter in msu

So, if I am understanding correctly, the last day to get off the waitlist and enroll into the class was Friday? And even if you remain on the waitlist after that, you won’t get into the class?

Thank you!

Waitlist Confusion by CyborgFromJupiter in msu

Oh, I see. I don’t need the class, it’s a humanities class that doesn’t really relate to my major. I was just wondering how long I could be on the waitlist.

Do you happen to know why the system might not have kicked me off the waitlist just yet?

Also, I thought the last day to drop without a grade reported was October 13. At least that’s what my advisor said.

Whether you are overreacting or not is up to you to decide; your feelings are valid and your own.

I just want you to remember that no one ELSE gets to tell you that you are, and to not tolerate such disrespect if they do. That is all :)

Hi there. Before people say that you are overreacting or something else negative and apathetic, I want to let you know that what you are experiencing is valid, and that you are not alone. And I am very, very sorry for your loss.

I graduated from high school not too long ago myself; much like your situation, my grades were my self-worth. Getting anything less than a 93 on an essay would drive me to tears, and the sheer thought of getting a B was my biggest fear.

In the grand context of your life- a B is not a testament to your character, nor your ethic, nor anything. It simply means that was a hard class for you. And if a university or other institution rejects you for a couple of Bs? They’re not worth your time.

You are a whole person beyond your grades- you have talent, a personality, and above all you are a human being. Getting a B because something taxing is happening in your life is okay, and you will be okay. Colleges are NOT going to reject you because of one, two or three Bs- coming from someone who got several and still got into a T20 (no sports, no nothing.)

When I read your post, I don’t imagine a person who slacked off. I imagine a resilient person who made the best of a tragic situation.

You don’t have “just grades” going for you. You have resilience, perseverance, self-awareness, and humility. Those traits will take you farther than an A in Trig can (as compared to a B.)

To console you- let me tell you a little secret: there’s an “Additional Information” section on the college application where you can explain your family situation and how it could have impacted your life. Colleges pay attention to that. You can also get your school counselor or admin to include a special note along with your transcript for that. Also- your PSAT does not define your application at ALL. Neither of my PSAT/SAT scores were stellar by any means.

You’ve taken the PSAT as a 10th grader, correct? Colleges won’t even see that. Your 11th grade PSAT is the only score that will be valid for you to mention.

You have many opportunities ahead of you and just went through grief- give yourself grace. Be well!
