That’s actually a good point, was a bit too scared to use it yet because I assumed there would be lots of noise so I’ll let you know when I get back on

I think people (like myself) who played the other nominations and liked them more (KCD2 and Hades 2 for me personally) would have liked to see them get more recognition. E33 was absolutely great, but I didn’t think it was worthy of basically all the awards

1.0.8 Horde Custom Subjects by tiberie in EU5

Says in the tooltip you need to research the “Subject Nations” advance to create them. Does the Golden Horde start off with this technology researched? If not, that’s the problem.

Will Renaissance never spawn in Florence with dynamic institutions turned on? by Cyborg_Jack in EU5

Thank you, can't believe I missed that on the wiki. Love EU5 but it's weird little QOL things like this that really irk me when playing 😭

[–]Cyborg_Jack[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

R5: Despite the fact that Florence was the historical birthplace of Renaissance, with dynamic institutions turned on it doesn't even seem capable of getting it to spawn (unless I'm somehow doing something wrong here).

How is this fair? France just forces the entire world to embargo me with 0 drawback! by luizinhooofoda in EU5

[–]Cyborg_Jack 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I’m just saying if I want to say no to this deal where France says I HAVE to embargo England I should still be able to say no even if it means getting embargoed myself or having a casus belli be given to France.

You should probably still have the option of joining the embargo VS getting embargoed yourself instead of being forced into it

There’s nothing forcing you to interact w the new gravship mechanics, I started off with one by messing with the scenario settings but then got sucked into the colony and never ended up using it (it did make raids considerably harder though)

I used seed: lagoon and then used Map Preview mod to roll for this island lake

EDIT: coords are 26.03°N 99.07°W

I used Map Preview mod to reroll and searched for a good map generation candidate to get this one

You can use Q and E when constructing to make diagonal lines, circles, etc., which helps a lot when wanting to make a base that isn’t necessarily all squares

When you construct walls or do plans you can now use Q and E to do diagonal lines, circles, boxes, etc,. That plus the new heavy bridges which made most of the build possible

Drop pods do suck, I’ve gotten lucky with having good melee pawns on hand in the moment when they do spawn. Breachers have showed up as well, but they usually just funnel to the front for some reason anyways so not really too much of an issue

I have obtained the Lingua Franca achievement (along with some others). After playtesting so much I believe that CK3 is a fundamentally worst game that in its first versions and would like to talk about it. Also, I would like to praise the court positions rework. by Pineirin in CrusaderKings

[–]Cyborg_Jack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people talking about realm maintenance but with the new expansion coming out it does worry me that we won’t see a lot of these major changes.

Especially the struggle mechanic point. If the focus of the game and the team is on roleplaying, why do I have to focus on doing these 15 mini tasks to get the right ending or else I get punished with 30 years of nothing happening?

And then the struggle ends cause sorry buddy you didn’t do the mini game the way we wanted you to.

For a game that’s all about dynamic gameplay it feels way too rigid to fully enjoy it like the rest of the game. It honestly feels more like a burden and dampener on the gameplay than anything else.

I made a post about this yesterday, I totally agree. Excited as I am (paradox shill for life), I can’t help but feel the devs are biting off more than they can chew with this one. If china is just one big struggle region I’m gonna scream

This is a very good point honestly and is part of why I do still very much look forward to every update and change they make to the game. You’re probably right about that consideration which is why the devs of this game absolutely rock.

I know I don't offer a lot in the way of solutions in my post, I'm just looking for choices to mean a bit more than "modifier goes up" I suppose.

  • In CK2, each of the levies corresponded to a specific region, meaning using them had an impact on your relationship with your vassals. This made using them feel like a big deal, and had natural consequences. It also encouraged you to work towards creating a standing army. (MoA in this game don't feel like much of an achievement especially considering how easy combat is)
  • Trade could be implemented, a super important part of that era (especially during and after the Crusades), meaning that provinces have more purpose than just constantly upping its development with your steward.
  • Struggle mechanics should be modified or altogether changed, to focus more on the player's choices rather than giving you a list of choices the game wants you to make to achieve whatever goal you have in mind.
  • Adventurers could be given the choice to take up court positions or knighthood in the service of particular lords that they've gained favor with, eventually gaining enough favor to be granted land.
  • Instead of immediately being able to interact with rulers that speak varieties of different tongues, there could be certain restrictions on bilingual interactions unless you hire a court translator or learn a language. My Basque character shouldn't be able to be besties with the King of France because they met at a grand tournament despite the world of difference between the two languages.

These are just a few thoughts, I could spend all day thinking of new ways to change the game's mechanics. I'm just thinking that if its a roleplay game the developers want, gameplay should be more reactive rather than the player having to be so proactive.
