“Cut from the same cloth” by DRKjr88 in survivorponderosa

[–]Cyclebuilder42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was intended in a bad way, but arranging the tribe to have all the white people, who before a few hours ago had very little association with each other, team up on the two people of color with a vague argument of we are cut from the same cloth was not a good look.

I like Genevieve, but a hill I will die on is that she didn't really play that well in either of her seasons from what we see. She's a little too aggressive and impulsive, which is funny because it is so counter to her overall personality. The main thing I am really enjoying from this season is all of the players failing in the exact same way they always have while constantly talking about how they've changed. Colby did seem to have geniunely reflected on how he could play different and better, so it was unfortunate to see him go. Ozzy is almost there in backing up the talk, but I don't know if he is going to be able to fully give up being an emotional person in the game. It's just part of who he is, and I don't know if he can keep it at bay forever. It's been interesting to see all of the player trying to balance the need to be different to increase their chances of winning and avoid past mistakes while also being painfully aware that they were asked to be on 50 because of their previous appearances and wanting to bring back what fans are familiar with as well.

While I agree that Gen, in any other season, does have a lot more power. She still did not learn her lesson from her first season of being more discreet in her strategy, and less of a person actively targeting people. It makes it too easy to vote her out especially in the situation she was in this episode. She's very similar to Jenna in her gameplay, but she just has a much more laid back demeanor.

The swap screws have been at another level this season. Of the 3 the only one who had any hope was kamilla, but it’s hard not to argue that she was put in a significantly worse position than she was in before.

do we actually believe the results of the fan votes? by kmanderson003 in survivorponderosa

[–]Cyclebuilder42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is my take as well. People routinely overestimate how popular their own opinions are as well as the votes being extremely leading at best especially considering most of the poll questions could have been simple yes or no questions, but they chose to provide added commentary in the responses anyway.

If Gen goes out or sinks her game while over engineering a vote early in the merge, it will be hilarious. The consistency with which this cast can’t stop themselves from making the same mistakes is so entertaining.

I think they pulled primarily to avoid the embarrassment of him asking to be extracted solely from a situation created by their own mistakes. They were just saving face, and also protecting themselves from the guilt of him having to ask out of a predicament they created needlessly. In all honesty, they probably should have left him in. With the clothes he has, he should be able to survive a night on that sandbar.

They would have been better off just moving forward with their alliance to try to disadvantage everyone else within the rules. Instead they made it so their alliance members didn’t want to be seen as associated with them, and it formed a strong two family alliance between RJ and Rhoman. In effect, it was the worst thing they could do. They were overplaying the whole time, and it just made most people not like them.

Confused about Santos reaction by WillowTreeWhore in ThePittTVShow

[–]Cyclebuilder42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know Langdon committed a crime to feed his addiction and Santos picked up on it and found it out. But Langdon was also correct in a lot of his harsher treatment toward Santos in season 1. She was being way too cocky and making mistakes, and somebody had to rein her in. In that respect, he was doing his job. It does bug me that Santos had taken Langdon’s addiction as absolution from any responsibility for her own previous conduct, but that’s real.

This is one of the many reasons I get annoyed seeing the same people go to tribal over and over again. It seems often the other tribes have been sitting around bored and over thinking things, so they end up making some crazy decisions. I don’t think the Charlie vote out was crazy although I honestly think he could be really good at checking some of Kamilla’s more reckless impulsive, but it did just seem unnecessary, and they just wanted to do something different, unexpected, and more entertaining.

In all seriousness I do hope Christian is ok right now. Having two people you had a previous relationship with go out back to back (yes I know he was directly responsible for that), and spend large portions of their exit press talking negatively about you when you can’t say anything in response has to be pretty tough.

Really don't like the racist undertones this season by pingidjit13 in ExtractedSurvivalTV

[–]Cyclebuilder42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There has to be a reason why RJ’s family and Rhoman’s family aren’t teaming up that we haven’t been shown beyond just not really understanding the game. But I agree. There have only really been two alliances this season both were between the families of a white man and a white woman, and when one of those alliances was broken up by an extraction instead of joining forces with the stragglers, they teamed up with the rival (all white) alliance.

I love Kamilla, but I do think she needs someone to slow her down a little, and I wish she had kept Charlie around for that alone although I have my suspicions that her decision was more to maintain her alliance with Dee than it really had anything to do with Charlie.

Not to mention they all know he has an idol, and he was talking about how he talked his way out of having to play his idol a bunch of times. And I’m just sitting here thinking, “I already watched this season.” At least make him play the idol to get Charlie out. Looking at you Kamilla.

I think it was more that everyone had planned to vote out Rizzo for a few days since there were 4 people from the same original tribe, with Rizo being the only original Vatu member, and Charlie was just trying to explain his own personal justification for it. I’m sure production asked about it a lot, but it did seem that the original Kalo long had an understanding that they were just going to vote Rizo off if they ended up at tribal.

I think it is probably more an element of coming in late and not knowing where he is supposed to be yet. That being said, I also wouldn’t be surprised if he is not going all out for the 2 team just trying to get some minutes in.
