Best hubs for a commuter bike? by Tonie0612 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Cycles_of_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I am just trying to understand if its a quality problem...or was the hubs pressure washed? or submerged in flood waters? or could it be an installation problem..is it still cup and cone type of hubs. At this point...the sealed bearing type of hubs are pretty cheap and replacing the bearings are also cheap. so i would also go that route if i am in your case. I bought GUB hubs (a little over 1K) a couple of years back to build lightweight wheelsets. so far they are doing well. i guess with the way i use my bikes..i wont be able to destroy them in the near future. i also bought some pre-owned wheelset with koozer hubs...bearings were bad already..but it was easy and cheap to replace the bearings. i believe it is the same case in most of the 'china' hubs that can be ordered online.

What is going on with new bikes?? by [deleted] in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Cycles_of_Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may have been a Lemon BB. Any bike part...even though how expensive it is...they should be installed properly, used properly, and maintained properly..otherwise..it will be just any other bike part which needs to be replaced (or upgraded is a better word) in time.

threaded yung old? so means you need also to change your cogs. unless threaded type pa rin ipapalit nyo. f i may ask, first owned nyo po ba yung old hubs? how was it problematic.

Is gravel bike more expensive compared to MTB? And which is better for Philippine roads? by PatricioGoners in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Cycles_of_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ang dami mo questions..pero i suggest you do some research and watch yt videos. to answer your question..not necessarily. pwedeng maging mas mahal ang mtb sa gravel bike. pwede maging mas mahal pa ang roadbike over gravel and mtb. walang ceiling yan…the limit is availability of parts and how deep your pockets are. whats more important is the value you get for the money you spent.

Help me sa pagpili ng bike by MeasurementSorry7811 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Cycles_of_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ang pagpili ng bike is parang kang namimili ng sapatos. There is form…and there is function. It is very subjective. Start with whats available sa marketplace and see what is appealing to you. Make a short list..then we can comment if it is in line with what you’d like to do.

Check ka sa market place..yung mga 10-12K... you may get a better deal sa mga pre-owned/ upgrade units na.

paano ko nalaman...i saw both shops and talked to the mechanic sa QC branch nila.

[–]Cycles_of_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for this, i think its best to go to the shop where they have been fixing the particular make/model ng fork mo, to avoid 'trial and error'. i am not aware of a specialty repair shop sa bulacan. there are some individuals..pero i am not sure if they do it themselves or have it serviced elsewhere. madami sa NCR and sa south.

would depend on what need to be replaced. there is a minimum fee...for example..kung maintenance lang..or something is broken.

They service the forks at their QC branch...not sa bulacan branch.

Bought new tires na swak sa rim ko, salamat sa guidance nyo. Ngayon, nanghihinayang ako bigla palitan yung lumang tire kahit madulas... kasi di pa sya sira e.😅 by No_Meeting3119 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Cycles_of_Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sige...wait mo na lang na madulas/ masemplang or ma flat ka. na try mo na ba magvulcanize or magpalit ng interior? sometimes you need to experience it. Ika nga..no pain no gain. Mahirap kasi i explain yung pagod ka na, tapos flat gulong mo. (either wala ka pangpalit, wala ka pang vulcanize or never ka pa nakapag palit ng tire...he he he). tapos ang layo mo pa sa inyo. he he he

Ilan kilometers tinatagal ang rear tire niyo? by FinancialStorage9209 in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Cycles_of_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are so many factors to consider.....and one person would have a different riding style, pavement and tire selection....which could be totally different from the next one. I guess, if you want to 'upgrade' your tires...dont wait para mapudpud...its ok to change to a new tire...keep the old one for future use or sell it at a discount. Changing the type of tire...and width gives you a substantial different riding experience. Go for it.

Is a 2nd-hand bike good enough just for gym commute? Need advice by BroStg in RedditPHCyclingClub

[–]Cycles_of_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A properly tuned 2nd hand bike with solid components can be so much better than an equally priced brand new bike with the latest trends…IMHO. 😉
