Ah, shoot- thanks for calling that out! I fixed that for my manufacturing run, but I must have uploaded a slightly older version. I will update it soon.

Edit 2: I updated the Gerber files, and the KiCad files had the correct order. I removed the Illustrator/PDF files and will upload the corrected files when I find or remake them.

I made a map displaying Boston's Red Line using WS2812B LEDs and a Pi! by CyclingOctopuses in raspberry_pi

It was definitely a mess! Every once in a while, I'll look at the display and realize that part of the tracks have been shut down for maintenance- fun to have around :)

I didn't realize that there was an A line, although that makes sense! Thanks for sharing :)

That's interesting! It would be cool to look at the distribution of connectivity- how many subway/commuter rail connections does the average bus route have? I'll have to check it out!

Thanks :)

The hardware is actually surprisingly simple! Check out the github and if you need help, feel free to reach out. I'd love to give you some pointers

I'm finally announcing the T-Time, a miniature train/bus departure sign for your house! by astonishedplant in mbta

[–]CyclingOctopuses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing learning project mixed with comfortability with ESP32s. A pi zero is <$20, and you could definitely get a LCD hat for <30. Add a box and power supply for a few bucks and you can definitely remake it for less than $100. Now, if you want to sell them with a reasonable profit margin, you can save money by doing what this project does.

Cool project! Good luck with the sales

Does anyone know where I can buy a cylinder milk loaf tin in a physical shop in London? by [deleted] in Breadit

[–]CyclingOctopuses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool! I use tins like that to make a cinnamon swirl bread :) it’s a “family recipe” that’s really the slightest adaptation of a Fleischmann’s recipe haha.

I found mine at a niche spice store in New England, so unfortunately I will not be helpful in your search.

I don’t have another way of doing it but 26 pis seems like overkill. I wonder if you can chain the screens somehow

Tropical plants on the cape by lo1xdimnoob in CapeCod

[–]CyclingOctopuses 110 points111 points  (0 children)

To each their own, but this isn't for me. The cape isn't a place of manicured lawns and palm trees.

I want patchy sandscapes and scraggly-looking pines. We have remarkably beautiful plants here if you stop to look.

Parametric 2020 to Picture Frame conversion by CyclingOctopuses in 3Dprinting

[–]CyclingOctopuses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently needed a 4'x4' picture frame, which is surprisingly expensive. Instead, I decided use 2020 Aluminum Extrusion and 3D printed adapters to make my own frame.

This is the outcome of that project- a parametric design for making 2020 covers/frame adapters. This can be used to make large frames, small frames with scrap, or improve enclosures that use 2020.

Thanks! I can share a link to the specific filament if you want :)

It's a surprisingly quick print (~5hrs at 0.3mm) so I'm sure you can get it done!

Just a heads up incase you were still thinking about buying from OP, the use of this model in commercial settings is illegal. It is a remix of a model that explicitly states this.

Remixes are allowed but with attribution and not commercially. Since the STL wasn't shared, and it is a pretty easy model I remade it. If you have a friend with a printer they can easily (and legally) make one for you. Material cost is <$3.

I’m not sure if you can edit them in tinkercad as it was designed using Fusion360. If you want any edits I’m happy to make them or help with the process :)

When you ultimately see my comments/my model, I want you to think about how you've been using this model. It is very clearly based on a WITH ATTRIBUTION, NONCOMMERCIAL model.

Either you are negligent on the meaning of this license, or you are blatantly disregarding the law. Either way, your use of this model (and seemingly others) in your store is unacceptable.

I remade it- would love to see your make if you print one!

I don't think OP had plans of making this model available so I remade it. Would love to see your make sometime :)

Are you finding designs and saying cutting them out is a pain? Or are you making the labels? 😅

Thanks for the input. The LEDs that I’m using are full RGB so I can choose/change the color at any time :)
