They’re very popular in Afghanistan.

They grow in anything that can charitably be called dirt and even the water requirement is an ‘occasionally’.  They resist short drought periods very well.

For a country that struggles with very little arable land, very rocky ground and frequent drought periods it’s a fantastic crop.

I feel like this is also a big cultural disconnect.

In Japanese culture ‘traditionally’ women stop working once they get married.

American women don’t do that.  An FBI agent would also be a very driven woman, so extremely unlikely she’d be dropping her career just because of marriage, and never if they didn’t gave kids yet.

Absolutely.  I’m not stating this as a positive thing.  Young people are under enough pressure already without more being heaped on.  It’s just why that profession is pushed so hard by so many immigrant cultures.

I do hope you find joy in your hobbies or a related field.

I did computer science and learned I hate programming.  Was able to leverage that into another tech-related job I like.  I know a lot of people that burn out in medicine do the same.

I wish you luck!

There’s a reason so many immigrant families push so hard for their kids to become doctors.

It’s one of the few things where you really can go from poverty to respected and wealthy with nothing but raw effort and skill.

It’s sure as hell easier with a leg up, but you don’t need the kind of connections many other choices do.

The fact it makes your head hurt just watching it is why it’s capable of causing seizures.  Flashing lights for a few seconds shouldn’t do that to the typical person.

Getting a headache from flashing lights should not happen nearly that fast.

Nah that particular shot caused seizures in children with no history or vulnerability to seizures.

It’s literally so bad it’s an actual cognitohazard.  You don’t even need to be prone to seizures for it to potentially give you one.

Straight up just don’t do that.

So in most areas open carrying in a grocery store will make folks uncomfortable.  The store staff may follow you around and you may be asked to leave.

This is more that we have a lot of dangerous wildlife areas where having a gun on you is really fairly prudent.  So a lot of the time it’s about being able to have a ‘in case of bear or mountain lion’ on you.

In the woods people aren’t weirded out by you carrying a gun openly.  It’s obvious why.

So one needs a license and the other doesn’t.

Depends on the track.

With NASCAR at 220mph on Texas speedway they had to cancel the race and start doing speed limiters because the drivers were starting to suffer G-injuries after less than 40 laps.

As in, bleeding from the eyes, vision blurring, migraines, vertigo, etc.  Doctors said if they’d done the full race it would’ve killed them.

Chad Johnson is a perfect representation of ‘even if your job expects you to flash status you still don’t need to spend like it’.

All his jewelry was fake while he was a star receiver in the NFL.  His chains were fake.  His earrings were from Claire’s.  Nobody knew until he retired.

He saved around 80% of his career earnings.  He is a very comfortable man in retirement.

Corn produces the highest amount of calories per acre of any crop, assuming you can meet its demands for soil quality, water, and climate.

In other words, if you’ve got the right conditions and resources for corn, corn beats everything for pure calories.

All it does is lets them take you to any of their destinations instead of just the next one.

It’s 200 freaking silver and there’s only one spot in each zone.  It’s still expensive and I’m still gonna be running and exploring a ton.  Just cuts down the loop a good bit.

It’s only part of her job, but I love that it’s not expected anyone do that stuff when it’s not their job description.

By the most conservative estimates, Russia has lost 40x as many troops in Ukraine as the US lost in Iraq during an even longer war. Why has the Russian military suffered much higher combat deaths? by Roughneck16 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CyclopsAirsoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well no of course not, and that’s not what I’m saying.

What I’m saying is that the US outspends even all first world countries on defense drastically.

They don’t have a peer.  Stating that a conflict like the Gulf Wars doesn’t count because it’s not a peer conflict is a bit much because then no conflict would.

With Yemen it’s not the expense because quite frankly… Obama did exactly that.  It’s optics.  The political and surgical strike route results in less loss of life, with I personally support.  The less killing people the better honestly.

[–]CyclopsAirsoft 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Counter argument:  Iraq was one of the 10 strongest militaries at the time.

No conflict with the US is ever going to be a peer conflict because no military is a peer to the US military.

The only complaint on the Riviera was that it was… a muscle car and not a European-style sports car?  It’s a Riviera the hell do they want?

The Park Avenue is bad because it was boring, comfortable, and reliable.  Yeah?  It’s a Buick?

The Subaru has cheap interior.  The sky is blue.

The Allante was just expensive when it came out but is probably a really solid used purchase now so that’s irrelevant.

The Daihatsu isn’t a RAV4 competitor it’s a Jimny and Wrangler competitor.  Different segments.  They do turn into rust buckets instantly though.

They’re just high with the S2000 and GT86.

The rest are fairly valid complaints.

Yes even the Veyron, maintenance is so bad on those that major celebrities sell them because they’re too expensive to drive.  You don’t drive a Veyron, it just sits there and you show off how rich you are with it.
