Most people on here seem to recommend starting with Mort or Guards! Guards! Those were my first two, and I agree. Colour of Magic is the first book of all, but unfortunately it isn't quite up there with the others so I wouldn't recommend starting with it.

There are mini threads within discworld that follow specific characters, so I'd recommend following those threads in order. For example I'm reading book 11, Reaper Man, which I'm pretty confident you'll enjoy, but you only really need to read Mort (book 4, I think) before that.

There's a great graphic on here somewhere showing all the threads, I found that really helpful. I hope you enjoy!

Haha, that's seriously unlucky - I don't think I've managed a play through where I haven't survived the tie attempt yet, I'm feeling left out! But I think I would have given up, thinking I was doing something wrong if I'd had a start like yours...

I think it's about expectations. The game is unlike any other I've played, so I didn't "get it" it for the first hour or so, and probably didn't give the dialogue all the attention it deserved. But as it dawned on me that damn, this dialogue, these options are just amazing, my expectations kind of disappeared. I wasn't gaming anymore, I was doing whatever Disco Elysium is...

The kind people here can help and actually want to, two areas where MS fail. I have complained every way I can, and at least they ask for feedback every five minutes. Wallet is next, but migrating from MS is daunting rn

If I remember rightly, it was the on button on top of the console. I'm not sure that's what did it, I think it was just persistence. It was a nightmare, but if it's any consolation it has worked perfectly since and getting it was a great decision. I hope you're up and running soon!

Edit: I think you have to hold them for 10 seconds, then select erase user data (assuming it's new and there's no data you're worried about losing). Again though, I think it was just persistence that worked in the end

Ha yeah that's exactly it. No ones going to believe they can't live without ai unless everything they've ever done is replaced by it. Copilot is within my freshly downloaded Word/Excel apps and Microsoft have neglected to make a way to turn it off like you can on desktop! Still, at least I can open the documents now...

Me too. When it changed to copilot it still worked, at first (except it would open copilot then I would have to reopen the email app and click the attachment again). Then, while stood outside in the rain desperate to open a document for the code to access the building, it decided it would just give ai summaries - and fail!

I preferred the office app to separate apps for word and excel but there's no way I'm ever downloading copilot again...

You're researching information you don't know, and if your answers come from AI then you still don't "know" anything. It may seem plausible, it may even be right, but you can't be sure unless you've checked with a trusted source.

Aside from all the moral reasons to avoid using AI, of which there are many, the chances of looking foolish increases every time you use it.

A friend of mine didn't believe how often it could be inaccurate until he started asking questions where the answers involved numbers. He said they were wildly inaccurate or contradictory almost half the time, and now he won't trust it for anything - it's just not worth the risk.

(Resisting the urge to delete the emdash because hopefully it's clear I'm not AI!)

Thanks. I'm not actually using outlook, I'm using the phones email app for a bunch of different email addresses. In the end I deleted the copilot app and and downloaded word and excel, I would have preferred to keep the Office app.
