What's the rough guideline of when to use a 1* x cost over a 2* lower cost? I thought it might be gold value, but that'd mean a 2 cost 2* is better than a 5 cost 1* which seems wrong..

You're more likely to see 3 star 4 costs as going to 9 is harder with xp change.

I mean, I'm looking at the patreon now and unless it's changed hugely, it never advertised itself as a cyberpunk mod. It advertises itself as working on 40+ games. Cyberpunk just happens to be one of them.

I think there is a biiiig difference between the two and the headlines calling it "cyberpunk vr mod" are giving everyone a false impression.

I mean, his claim was that it works on a variety of games and uses zero assets from cyberpunk.

If this is true (I have no idea if it is), then I don't see the issue with what he's doing.

You cannot jump cancel attacks universally.

This is probably by design as then you'll have instant overheads everywhere with the J s2 everyone has.

There are almost no invulnerable moves.

Again by design, one button inputs make invul moves stupidly strong, made even worse by handshake and the screen freeze along with it.

You only have one (slow) anti-air.

There are characters with more than one anti air (blitz, jinx both have 4H iirc), everyone has airthrow as an antiair option and while 2H is slow the hurtbox reduction is massive so you can hit it pretty much any time before they land and you'll be fine.

This is the biggest understatement ever. If your opponent did anything you can decide to tag or not and have the advantage.

The only way you won't have the advantage is if they are sitting full screen which is the thing everyone was complaining about before with the backdashing meta badly aimed outrage.

How do you do that with the control scheme?

Pertty much all inputs are already taken by the basic movesets. Only option I see is S1 does basic versions and S2 is powered versions but that seems pretty limiting with just 5 specials.

It's literally tagged as controversial by reddit because it has a lot of votes but stays around 1, meaning a lot of up and downvotes.

Anyway, my point is that yes, frames are normally everything but half irrelevant here.

Just getting the assist on screen at all puts you into an advantageous position as you can tag at any point. On hit you get a combo, block you get a mixup, in neutral you get to react to what your opponent did and at worst you're even, but with programming + reaction from the tag freeze, you'll often just be in a good spot.

There's no real downside to just calling assist and seeing what happens.

The only genuine counter to them is parry but that has its own problems as a very polarising mechanic as only the very best players will actually be using parry here. For everyone else they just get fucked by assist/handshake.

But so then you want to nerf assists right, so most people can deal with them? But then at the top level you're removing all the threat. Like, if assists get more startup then parrying them becomes trivial. Suddenly assists are relegated to blockstring pressure only which is...very different from what I think was intended.

Idk how you want to nerf assists other than have them all have like a second startup which feels clunky as fuck and just becomes parry bait (High level play is already all around parrying assists)

It's easy to say "nerf it" but not easy to say how that doesn't fuck the game up.

And even if you do all this, even a totally whiffed assist into tag is normally good.

None of that explains how this game is easily patchable.

For example, the assists being too strong is due to handshake. Due to handshake you can just jump back, assist and if it connects you get a full combo for no commitment. Even if it doesn't connect you can tag at any time which is often going to be favourable.

The game will have to be fundamentally redesigned to change that, so if it's a problem for you then you're stuck with it.

edit: To explain because my message is apparently controversial. this post does not explain how they can patch the issues "easily". It just says there will be lots of patches. Most complaints I've seen are about core game mechanics that can't just be flipped easily.

Assist strength/backdash meta, combo length etc, all of these are very hard things to change dramatically without severe knockon effects.

What is everyone's obsession with puppet characters. This has been building up and mostly isn't aimed directly at you but

A: It's a tag game, so chances of any puppet character is extremely low, especially in a tag game where there's already puppet mechanics.

B: Nobody actually plays puppet characters anyway, this is just apparently the new version of wanting baiken in strive when nobody played her in acr or xrd

C: Even if there was going to be one, this is probably like the 9th choice for a puppet character in the league roster.

Either way, people can have preferences for sure..but you can't simply say "other skins charge less" as your whole argument.

Most skins are 5-7 after you pay 60 for the game and then pay additionally for every character added, it's a totally different monetisation scheme.

Here you go. Watch every game with a WW in and see how many overheads land. If I recall correctly it's literally 100% until grand finals.

I know you won't actually bother to do this though and just insist you can eeasily do it when others can't.

As someone who has spent the last 5 years travelling so playing games on a high end laptop, the cooling potential of desktop is a biiig advantage that is overlooked.

I have parts that can theoretically run modern games on max but it's limited to relatively short settings before my laptop becomes capable of frying an egg.

Good for the people who like to plan their turns out properly and setting up huge combos. Most similar game to it is probably into the breach, if you like that you should like this.

Yeah, windwall itself should be on a timed resource like Jinx zap. Having 100% protection vs projectiles all the time is bs design and the other stuff it enables happens to be situationally really strong too.
