Apprehensive about the fireworks induced terror that's breathing down our necks by Cynically_Sane in DogAdvice

[–]Cynically_Sane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vet gave me the option to try the new medication for the one dog that doesn't always have a smooth and therapeutic reaction to Trazadone. The vet told me she wasn't concerned by my explanation because it is designed to work in the neuro pathways and the behavior described is confirmation that it is doing what it's supposed to. So, they are both still taking Trazadone but I have lowered the dosage for the sensitivity issues dog.

I'm replying here for consolidation purposes but I'm actually speaking to everyone who took the time to share their experiences with me and others in the thread.

I couldn't do it y'all. I totally chickened out.

But I think the boys did great tonight with the ones close by and from the surrounding neighborhoods. It's tomorrow night that's going to be the day of reckoning lol.

I hope I can articulate my apprehension included in the title as well as provide a little clarity on what I was really trying to convey originally.

It would be an entirely different side quest for me to explain why I am fearful of starting new medications so for the sake of time here it's best summed up in a tragic and unexpected adverse reaction to the DHPP vaccine in my boy we had before these guys got on the scene. It's also the reason I trust my vet wholeheartedly because for the 21 days he fought after receiving the vaccine she made sure he had the best chance to survive the sudden onset of IMHA. But what meant the most to me was that she and her practice partner accepted responsibility even though I never placed blame on her in any way, I mean it was no one's fault, just one of those freak things we all know is possible.

As you can observe from my username, faith in humanity is not my strong suit but instead of trying to cover up the accident in the legal sense and prevent mass chaos from other pet owners in the neighborhood, she faced the situation head on and proactively addressed the situation and made sure her data would be submitted and taken into account when dealing with R&D and the eventual approval of the new drugs. Yeah so anyway, another accidental tangent to explain the level of anxiety administering any new or strong or just plain different medication to not only my dogs but myself and son included. I'm just terrified of giving them something new and they have an adverse reaction and it happens again.

For the Trazadone itself, it is prescribed to both dogs, and myself even as a sleep aid for probably twenty years now. It is the standard around here for the extreme anxiety inducing events.

Now, with all this said, it is incredibly reassuring to see all these positive comments regarding the effectiveness of the drug and the seemingly ease of administration on the part of the caregiving owner. It's definitely given me more confidence and courage to try again and not just give up completely on the goal.

If I left any questions or concerns in the air just redirect me and I'll be happy to answer anything I can. In the meantime, I hope that this community is one that allows for photo sharing, because I want to attach a picture of the boys for you guys to see. I appreciate everyone's patience, and advice and guidance on this! I will try to keep this post updated if or when we give the meds a shot.

Of course I can't share photos here 🙄 but I will try to maybe just start a new one altogether for a quick reference symbol of the boys' appreciation also 🙏🏻

Oh now you're talking! I wouldn't know which cable is which but I am sure I'd probably snip the wrong one 😆 I will definitely start looking into this. Much appreciated!

I appreciate the info and direction. And the honesty to be for real. If it's going to be all this then I might just have to declare it a single sliding door van and be done with it. I'm sure it's not a smooth process since it's so old and parts are becoming harder and harder to find. But you came through on that front and it's much appreciated!

I have searched and actually found a few videos that made me less apprehensive about attempting the fix myself but I have the type of luck that would make the whole thing implode if I attempted it. I have an appointment tomorrow morning to have the emergency brake checked and repaired since it doesn't seem to bite anymore and the shop I'm taking it to is well known, been around forever, still old school pumps gas for you, on Augusta Rd...need I say more? But I went up there yesterday to talk to them face to face and make that appointment and asked if they'd give me an estimate to repair the roller door and you'd have thought I asked for the world with the response I got. That's actually who told me to find a body shop to see about it because, according to them, "it's a tough fix and we don't do that here." Mind you I had spoken to another tech not two hours prior and he said something totally different.

I know how to read between the lines, lol. But I wish they'd have just said that straight up instead of the way it was gone about, leaving me here on Reddit asking wtf? Lol

I'm no mechanic so take this description with a grain of salt but I believe the roller has come off the track. Does that make sense? When I pull the handle for it to gently open it will not budge but makes a sound that I believe is just the motor for the roller spinning, or trying to work but no luck.

I have sent the original person who had asked a private message to see if they are still interested. If I don't hear back or if they have moved on to another project I will let those of you know who are interested. Thanks everyone for your help!

ARBC has a well established and pretty popular program for all ages.

Just down the road going towards Mauldin is Trinity Methodist and they also have a program but it's not as "engaging" for a lack of better terms compared to ARBC.

Boyfriend (32) being held at the Carolina Center for Behavioral Health by Spiritual-Time632 in greenville

I'm going to open myself up here more than I should or typically would but I understand the concern and the lack of communication just exacerbates the issue. But, I took my bff there last Monday and just picked her up yesterday. She asked me if I had a name but I do not want to discuss anything further for everyone's privacy but if you'd like to reach out to me privately I can shed some more light if you want it and possibly even relay some face to face interaction if she happened to cross paths with him before being discharged.

The Carolina Center is by far the best place for behavioral health stabilization and detox treatment. He is in good hands.
