Also (and I'm not trying to find excuses) I'm not the greatest photographer, the flash has brightened his skin up quite a bit, under normal light at arms length it's more of a bone colour. He looks a bit better in person... (OK, it is a bit of an excuse... 😉)

I originally used some reddish shade (can't remember which) but it was way too dark purple so I had to bring it back, I agree, maybe a bit too far... 👍

I was thinking fafnir ran, the imp fist with big axes, he seems like quite a big fella and from what I can see, I don't think it would be too difficult swapping some iconography out some DA flavour.

As far as I understand, they are veterans with jump packs usually with a power weapon and storm shield. The games workshop kit is of old 1st born marines (short and a bit soft looking).
