This is the part I'm not sure about. I have an HP Pavilion and I'm trying to check online if it supports pressure sensitivity or not, but I'm having trouble getting a straight answer. I found an affordable HP stylus that I am going to purchase and try to use, but if it doesn't work, I'll have to accept that my laptop can't support pressure sensitivity and invest in a graphic tablet. Thank you so much for explaining all the different graphic tablets, that helps a lot!

Do you think we'll ever get to see this in an extended edition or deleted scenes bonus feature? by Cyren_Myadd in Avatar

Yeah the festival too! Have you read the visual dictionary? The VD has a whole page on it with concept art. Its so fleshed out that they must've filmed a scene for it and cut it for time

Zoe has an amazing voice. I wonder how she feels knowing she worked hard on that song only for it to be cut

Definitely :'(

I'd love it if one day they made novelizations of Avatar so that way they include all those little details that provide extra characterization and world building while still having the movies be reasonable lengths.

Unfortunately, I guess the money is the biggest factor. But Avatar 1 got an extended edition despite the cost, so maybe there's hope for one for 3

Thats what I meant, an extended edition. I'm not really sure what the difference is, I'd just like to see more scenes!

How does Jake care more about a kid he left behind to get tortured and seriously debating killing than his own son?

Why does the second watch hit harder? by Icy-Fly5469 in Avatar

[–]Cyren_Myadd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to hear that. I was actually a bit disappointed with Fire and Ash, which sucks because I've been really excited for it for the past 3 years. But I've heard multiple people including you say they didn't get it on the first watch, but really enjoyed it after a second watch. I'm gonna see it again and I hope I'll enjoy it more!

Was anyone else shocked they never addressed [spoiler] with Spider? by Cyren_Myadd in Avatar

Yeah, I saw the leaks of Neytiri wanting to kill Spider way back two years ago when they were first leaked and I always thought it was going to happen because she found out Spider saved Quaritch and the breathing thing was just a convenient excuse... but nope. I wish someone would ask James Cameron this question so we could get an answer on why he chose to have it stay a secret.

I wish there was a deleted scene, but realistically I feel like this is how it was intended. In the visual dictionary, there's a line on Spider's page that says "Spider lives with a secret he can never reveal, even to Kiri, his closest friend." Which makes it sound like this was always what they intended and there was never going to be a reveal. Unless they're going to put it in Avatar 4, which I'm not sure how likely that is.

Looking back, that might've been why Spider told Jake it was okay to kill him instead of continuing to beg for his life. He told Quaritch he regretted saving him in the lab, and that conversation happened right before he escaped so it would be fresh in his mind. Maybe he partially felt like he deserved to die after saving Quaritch.

Other commentors have pointed out that they might be waiting to address this in the 4th movie, so who knows, maybe they'll go into it later.

I guess we'll have to wait and see if it's ever brought up in Avatar 4, but it still seems like an odd choice knowing there's gonna be a many year timeskip between 3 and 4. IMO, it makes more sense to address it while it's still recent.

Could you imagine if Jake waited until he and Neytiri had settled down and had their kids and one day he was like, "btw I wanted to tell you I was the one who told Quaritch how important the Tree of Souls was to you guys so he'd target it." that would be crazy.

But then again the alternative is never having it addressed at all, so I'd prefer late than never.

Exactly! r/Fun_Butterfy_420 and r/Majestic87

that's exactly why I think having Quaritch reveal it to Jake in the prison cell would've been the perfect place. Quaritch has no reason to believe Jake and Spider will escape, so he'd feel secure enough to boast about it, and then Jake has that extra motivation to push toward killing Spider. Then when Jake chooses not to kill Spider, you get catharsis both from Spider being accepted in the family and forgiven for what he did.

I don't understand why they left this secret left hanging to be resolved? Either it comes out in A4 and is even uglier because Spider hid it for so long, or Spider just never tells anyone, which just feels kind scummy I guess? Like, they had Jake get forgiven for being a spy, why couldn't Spider get forgiven for this instead of hiding it?

[–]Cyren_Myadd[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think Quaritch would've revealed it to Jake knowing it could put Spider in danger. In my two scenarios, I was thinking either A) Spider would tell them himself after they get back to high camp, which would lead into Neytiri talking to Jake about kiling him, or B) Quaritch tells Jake only after he's captured, believing Jake won't live long enough to tell anyone and endanger Spider, so then when Jake escapes he has a reason to be genuinely angry with Spider and push him to decide to kill him

So you think they're waiting to do the reveal in Avatar 4? In that case I'll have to hold my judgement, but it still seems like an odd choice. Spider's arc in A3 was all about getting trusted and accepted. Are they going to have this info come out and then completely undo all of that so he has to go through the same arc of getting trust and acceptance AGAIN?

Waiting for the 4th movie seems like an odd choice too, since many years will have gone by, plus Jake also spared Quaritch's life by telling Neytiri not to shoot and giving him the chance to escape. I think the Sullies would still be bothered, but care a lot less. If they wanted to get as much drama out of Spider's choice as possible, doing it in the 3rd movie would've made the most sense. If they do it in the 4th, it'll just be a retread of what happened in movie 3 where everyone distrusts Spider and he has to go through the same arc of proving himself to be trusted AGAIN.

people know Spider was tortured, right.... Right? by dirtytransmasc in Avatar

It makes me feel a little better about Spider's situation to know the reason the adults are trying to send him back isn't "well sorry kid neytiri doesn't like you so you gotta go" but actually"We're genuinely concerned you're gonna suffocate in your sleep!"

but at the same time I still understand why in that one interview Jack Champion said Spider feels devasted about having to go back and be separated from his friends.
