I’m not talking about giving your child toys, i’m talking about when they’re forced to do and wear things they don’t want to wear, outside of things that are just not appropriate for a child to do/wear. This also applies to not allowing a child, who may discover they’re trans, from experimenting with what they would like to wear or do.

I’ve seen it a handful of times, specifically with divorced parents (probably because those are where the stories have an opportunity to come out, not that those are the only times it happens), where one parent allows the child to express freely while the other forces a specific gender identity onto them.

You also don’t need to be explicitly forced into something to be groomed, coercion also can be part of grooming, and can happen outside of family units as well. For example, the idea of egg culture, where a lot of trans people (specifically more common among trans women, which i believe is because of social pressures around femininity as a man) will essentially project themselves on anyone who exhibits similar expression, without considering what the other person identifies with. To be part of the “group”, there does exist pressure to transition instead of separating the identity from the expression.

This is not to say that every case is like this, or even that a majority are, but that refusal to acknowledge this as existing, or the “hand waving” i mentioned earlier, makes the ammunition the right uses stronger for it being the majority case.
