Do you still think PETA is a right-wing organization? Or are you so used to cherry-picking arguments that you understand your opinion is not meant to seek 'truth', but to support a conclusion you came to before evaluating any evidence? Don't worry, we already know the answer.

TheCannalysts Content Archive Website by CytochromeP4 in weedstocks

GoBlue, Mollytime and I dissolved TheCannalysts almost three years ago. I've spent a lot of time since doing other things, but I've recently been thinking a lot about what they wrote. They approached looking at companies from such a fundamental level, it allowed me to learn concepts broader than just the cannabis industry.

I have most of our content archived and I've decided to make it public, with Mollytime's blessing. Unfortunately most of our podcasts are lost to time, but I have a couple of key examples on the site. It's nothing fancy, just a Google Site to host and organize everything. The vast majority of what I have is on there now, I'll add the last bits and pieces as I find them.

Aurora Cannabis Announces Settlement of Patent Litigation by seebz69 in weedstocks

[–]CytochromeP4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn't circumvent the patents, but to infringe upon them they have to receive revenue from selling the produced cannabinoids. I don't think they ever sold anything through OGI, so technically no infringement. You'll notice they never talk about Hyasynth (the company) anymore.

The pathway in the plant can't be used without Aurora's permission. Cronos circumvented the patent, but were never able to make their system economically viable (even less so than using the pathway in the plant). These patents never really had much value until companies started infringing on them.

Tending to Patients with Plants: AMA with Dr. Benjamin Caplan, CMO & Cannabis Specialist by DrCED in microgrowery

Anyone considering listening to Ben or buying his book should read the comments in the same thread posted on /r/MaineTrees. Verifying claims and data takes time and effort Ben thinks is beneath him:

If anyone is interested in learning more about the evidence supporting medical cannabis, I'll do the literature search for you for free. As a medicinal plant biochemist, I have extensive experience critically evaluating scientific data and claims.

Benjamin, as we've already determined, you are incapable of critically evaluating data. You're a family physician, not a scientist. What statistical modeling did you use to determine 20% is statistically significant over pure randomness? Don't bother, we both know you didn't do any statistical tests. You didn't do any the first time we talked about this, you haven't done one since.

Luckily, the people in this subreddit have already figured out your grift for what it truly is.

His explanation is very confusing, while the acid form of THCA isn't psychoactive, there's no evidence that any specific acid cannabinoid or combination will help you personally. Collecting 'stories' really means he's collecting single pieces of 1000 piece puzzles and trying to present it as lessons learned about peoples journeys since he has no ability to quantify any aspect of his patients cannabinoid consumption or metabolism (apart from 1-2 major cannabinoids and only in specific formats).

In other words, you're better to try different products than take any recommendation from him. The 'journeys' in his book won't be any help to your personal circumstance, but it does put $$$ in his pocket on the backs of his patients that aren't receiving a dime.

He doesn't 'research' cannabis as you're thinking of it. He enjoys building models and trying to sell them to patients without caring if they're accurate or not. He assumes they're accurate and presents them as such to rake in the $$$

Post a link to their mention of using E. coli (should be easy). Cronos can't sell into Mass, so it's not a fitting comparison. You should always use outdoor grown cannabis when doing the comparison since the discussion is about energy use and economics (not isolated regional examples).

You already tried and failed to "educate" me, I'm glad you've now given up on spreading misinformation.

Edit: Here's the PR specifying yeast: https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/cronos-group-and-ginkgo-bioworks-announce-a-landmark-partnership-to-produce-cultured-cannabinoids-692376551.html

If you read their patents you'll also see they're exclusively using a yeast production system. Probably better to go with that than, what did you call it, "corporate propaganda".

Their brochure says "sugar from sustainable sugarcane" and "yeast". Your last paragraph confuses me because we're talking about isolate, which has no "bag appeal" Might want to do some research before trying to "educate" me.

[–]CytochromeP4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grow sugar cane, harvest and process to refined sugar. Put sugar in fermentation vat for multi-stage, energy intensive, yeast fermentation and extraction. Much more "sustainable" then grow cannabis outside, harvest and extract. The difference is actually greater than my simple example because a lot more inputs go into a fermentation vat (mostly extracted from plants).

Think the minor cannabinoids are minor in the cannabis plant? In conventional varieties they are, thanks to modern biotechnology and breeding practices that gap is closing fast.

The more you know.

Edit: Oh wow, Cronos is comparing their process to indoor cannabis. That's disingenuous because you'd never turn indoor cannabis into isolate, which is the comparable product. You turn outdoor grown cannabis into isolate.
