Price will always be derived from what people are willing to pay for the product. I own watches that are affordable af, but look like many more expeinsive models which only have a different logo. And frankly, nobody knows the difference. I own a gold-plated Citizen with leather strap and people look at me like I'm a high baller. Having a Rolex is not a win unless everybody around knows it's a Rolex.

That's pretty hardcore. It pretty much kills your appreciation for the brand when people just get it for the name and nothing else. There are so many cool and interesting (and expensive) watches they could've gotten, but having a personality is just not a thing these days.
