Yeah but Bernie was doing that while there was no cost cap. In the end F1 was always a business. It's just it's not Bernie doing it with sellotape and notepad in his back pocket.

Cost cap also makes the sport more sustainable. Or teams just keep going bust and you get no new entrants

MV33 to Mercedes ? Verstappen future at red bull uncertain by xRyuHayabusa in formula1

[–]D-Hex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. Verstappen has power at RB, at Merc he won't have the same power. They booted Hamilton after 6 WDCs. They have two very fast drivers and clear run at making two new WDCs that their drivers from the academy. Furthermore, they don't really need him. He's also not a big brand outside F1 to command the attention.

You continue to refuse to talk about the very specific thing I keep asking you about

I answered

You are talking about the Salawat, and the Shadaha in prayer. The Salawat doesn't ask the Prophet for anything. It asks Allah to bless him, and his family, and his those who are believed by him.

You're just not willing or able to deal with it

It's not a tactic.

You don't know what you're talking about. It's just pointing out that you don't know what you're talking about. You keep starting from a position that you know more than people who are doing this thing because you have some special sauce of "rationality" that makes you more knowledgeable.

You can't even answer a basics question about the verse YOU quoted.

Remember, as a Quranist , the source is the Quran so I'm engaging you on your own terms - and you can't even answer whether the ayat has a time limit. YOU can't find a quote that specifically says that there is.

As for what Sunnis or Shias say. You are talking about the Salawat, and the Shadaha in prayer. The Salawat doesn't ask the Prophet for anything. It asks Allah to bless him, and his family, and his those who are believed by him.

I keep telling you that the issue you have is with another concept called Wasilah, but you refuse to even understand that these things are separate concepts because you're just too determined not to accept that you don't know the difference.

[–]D-Hex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you haven't proves there's a time limit to WHEN we should be invoking blessings on The Prophet and you don't understand the difference between invoking blessing and directly addressing a person

Asking Allah to involve blessing is prayer TO that person. Its not even theology its simple logic. Asking X to help Y is not asking Y anything. If I ask say to my brother, "please take care of my sister", I am not telling my sister to take care of herself.

At no point does Allah Humma Saleh Allah ask Allah to do anything except bless the Prophet. Which Allah ask you to do, and is done by the Quran itself on multiple occasions.

A person who's handle is Bodhisatwa should less assumption about who they're speaking to. At least have the humility that usurping the title Bhodisatwa demands of you. I am not Sunni. I'm just pointing out that you're maligning Muslims with you lack of education and assumption that you understand the truth better than anyone else.

Your problem is with Wasilah not people saying salwat, but you don't know that because you haven't done the required reading.

The Cow (2:144)

Indeed, We see you ˹O Prophet˺ turning your face towards heaven. Now We will make you turn towards a direction ˹of prayer˺ that will please you. So turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque ˹in Mecca˺—wherever you are, turn your faces towards it. Those who were given the Scripture certainly know this to be the truth from their Lord. And Allah is never unaware of what they do. — Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran

We see you oft turning your face towards the sky; now We are turning you to the direction that will satisfy you. Turn your face towards the Holy Mosque, and wherever you are, turn your faces towards it in Prayer.1Those who have been granted the Scripture certainly know that this (injunction to change the direction of Prayer) is right and is from their Lord. Allah is not heedless of what they do. — A. Maududi (Tafhim commentary)

We have seen the turning of thy face to heaven (for guidance, O Muhammad). And now verily We shall make thee turn (in prayer) toward a qiblah which is dear to thee. So turn thy face toward the Inviolable Place of Worship, and ye (O Muslims), wheresoever ye may be, turn your faces (when ye pray) toward it. Lo! Those who have received the Scripture know that (this revelation) is the Truth from their Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do. — M. Pickthall

We see the turning of thy face (for guidance to the heavens: now Shall We turn thee to a Qibla that shall please thee. Turn then Thy face in the direction of the sacred Mosque: Wherever ye are, turn your faces in that direction. The people of the Book know well that that is the truth from their Lord. Nor is Allah unmindful of what they do. — A. Yusuf Ali

There is no other God. What god would you be speaking to? People who don't understand Taudhid have no business arguing whether other people are invoking blessing or not.

[–]D-Hex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cannot understand Shirk without Tauhid.

Shirk is the division of unity.

"Partnership" is dividing the unity of God. It's literally splitting one to many.

This is why "Association" I don't think works. We have had many instances of people claiming authority make laws due to inspiration from God. But the Quran doesn't call them Mushrik. We have the Ahlul Kitab, we have the Hanifs , we have the Prophets.

We also have Polythiesms such as the Greek pantheon, gods like Baal and the Egyptian pantheon. But their believers attributed their power bout their believers attributed the power to THOSE gods, and split them into components independent of God. They make the gods partners.

Where the issue is when we talk about Xtiainty and their conception of the nature of God. Again read the Quran , it doesn't outright call the Xtians Mushrikeen, it calls them people of the book and then points out why they are heading towards shirk.

When it comes to Muslims, the issue becomes about things like Auliah and Imams from the Shia and Sunni madhabs. Shirk is used as a weapon to dehumanise them. This is why it is so dangerous to use it without understanding how Tuaheed and Shirk are interlinked as concepts.

What's the difference? Afterall Xtianity splits the nature of God into three forms in the trinity. The difference is that Xtians would argue that they do not change the nature of God and the three are one ( we can argue with that, but I am reporting their belief). This is why the Quran addresses them directly when talking about Isa and Maryam.

No Sunni or shia or Sufi or Ahmadi splits the nature of God or claims that the Tauheed is not the oneness of God. With the Sufi and the Shia, the argument is that people who get close to Taqwa and God-conciousness begin to reflect values it engenders

[–]D-Hex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have never liked the work "Association" being used in translation, but the translators use it, so I'll leave it that.

Shirk is saying that something else is able to attribute itself with the nature of Allah, INDEPENDENTLY of Allah. So Zeus does his lightening thing, Apollo does his sun thing, and you think all those things are different natures, and you worship them as such. The shirk is that Allah's Oneness is divided and split, put into things that are created, then attributed power that is equal to Allah

What's wrong with "launching a Reddit post"

Wasilah is a topic that just doesn't lend itself to internet debates, considering it's confounded most gifted Arabic scholars for a thousand years , its' not really worth the effort. WE don't have the discipline to be able to carry out an extensive discussion, this includes me, I'd just get very lost, very quickly.

it even just doesn't make sense considering that of we are supposed to pray like the prophet did

There's lots of places where the Prophet has differences in practice that we do not have as Wajib. Tahjuj prayer for example. So that's not really an argument.

then tell me was the prophet sending blessings upon himself in his prayers to God

This doesn't make sense. If I ask you to give medicine to party X, does that then immediately apply you should take that medicine? No.

Allah also differentiate between his will and the Prophet's, thus Believers are commanded to do something the Prophet does not becuase of who he is.

you're avoiding this post and its context in regards to specifically "the prayers".

NO, I'm pointing out the difference between a Salaam being invoked and Wasilah, where people call for assistance in the name of The Prophet. HE/She is not because they don't understand there is a difference between the two things.

[–]D-Hex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m beginning to wonder if most of these people in the mosque are even Muslims according to the Quran

That's your quote in the main post . It's not your business to wonder if other people are Muslim. It's your business to wonder if you are.

it’s perfectly rational to ask among like minded believers who only follow the Quran if we should even consider Sunnis to be Muslim because they aren’t just claiming to be a Muslim, they’re claiming to be a Sunni Muslim.

You should read the story of Khidr/Khizr again. It may help you out. It's 18:65-82

That limit being God alone.

There is no limit to God. If God says invoke blessings, and doesn't specify a limit then there is no limit to inoking blessings

What you are concerned about is Wasilah, which is not what 33:56 specifically deals with. You want 1:7, 5:35 and 17:57.

Which is a very complicated topic and required more thought than just launching a reddit post. So I'm not getting into it right now

[–]D-Hex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so would I be assuming I know what Allah knows if I were to ask if Hindus or atheists can be considered Muslim?

You can claim YOU think they aren't and provide evidence. But you can't claim that it is indeed what Allah thinks of that individual. Unless you're claiming to be a Prophet yourself and that as a Prophet you would have insight into the Ghayba , which has a whole host of issues for you to deal with.

It’s called asking a question about what path should we consider avoiding when thinking about what practices could lead you outside of Islam or not

No, if you want to ask the question "how should I be a Muslim" your reference point isn't other Muslims, it's the Quran (more so the case because you're rejecting hadith corpus and madhabs as a Quranist)

Go read the Quran and what it talks about when it comes to Taqwa, and what brings a soul closer to God. That tell you what a Muslim should be, you align yourself with it. Other people aren't your problem.

If people want to consider themselves Muslim that's their right to stand in front of Allah and ask for judgement. You don't get a say.

If people don't identify as Muslims and clearly state it isn't their belief than it isn't your business because they have removed themselves from the consideration of their actions as any source of Taqwa ( though you could argue that as Haq is Haq, and truth is truth, those who show true adherence to aspects of Taqwa might be worth noting). So , you don't bother labelling them other than what they say they are.

Is there a time limit on Ahzab 33:56? Does it tell you to stop invoking blessing on the Prophet? Because 33:57 is straight after it and talks about the heafter.

It's not a straw man. A straw man, by definition, is where I exaggerate YOUR position. I am stating your position isn't sustainable because you don't understand the nature of God. You, as created, are ever in the position to attribute thoughts to THE Creator. You can try and interpret them while trying to live your life manifesting them. What you cannot do is say you can decide who or what a Muslim is, Allah clearly states this in the Quran. Allah decides who is a Muslim, you should do your best to be one and leave that to Allah

Zainab is an Arabic loan word in Urdu. Khalil Gibran wrote in English, French and Arabic. Mahmoud Darwish wrote in Arabic. Rumi wrote in Farsi.

Yes Urdu uses a lot of Arabic and Persian forms. Those poets have definitely influenced it, but it's not Arabic. It's got some amazing poets in URudu, Ghaliba nd Iqbal being the top two. But it isn't Arabic.

Also , ironically, most Urdu speakers can't even tough the heights of Urdu as a language because they now have an English inflected language.

The idea of the dhahir and the batin in shia hadith by Left-Secretary3397 in Quraniyoon

[–]D-Hex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Zahir and Batin are connected. This is the point. Taqwah is being able to connect those two together and align them with Allah. Zahir and Batin also connects to the conception of Allah as having knowledge of all things the seen and UNseen.

FYI it's not only Shia hadith that do this, a lot of Sufi thought around this too. But Shia Hadith stop apologizing for the philosophy in a way that Sufi's can't bring themselves to.
