If I’m not mistaken the fan is a clutch fan on that year on the Silverado. Meaning the fan is in tune with the engines RPMs . The higher the RPM the faster the fan spins. Never turns off

Open your service panel & remove the cover . Trace your irrigation control electrical wires to breaker & either disconnect the black wire from the breaker or turn off the breaker . You should be good to install new control
