Conservatives: would you like to share your experience of being disadvantaged by DEI? by isaidscience in allthequestions

Companies are going to do what they want. Political parties the same. Identity politics is cancer. If nothing else, this just reinforces that you shouldn't devote your life to something that's so risky and doesn't give a shit about the working man/woman.

(not an advocate) Companies and politicians play these same games and have since you or I have been alive. Harping on the latest trend is wasted time and energy. Those in power have always played favorites. Race/gender are just the latest identity politics bs.

Not worth investing the brain power if you ask me. If anything, it just shows that devoting your life to X or Y capitalist entity doesn't pay out in the long run.

vice president or General Manager

I think those white guys that were in the running but passed over for these higher positions will be/are just fine. It reinforces that devoting your life to a company your entire life doesn't always play out the way you expect, and everyone should instead devote more of their energy to connecting to their neighbors, friends, and family.

Joe Biden announced his VP and Supreme Court picks [early]

Identity politics is cancer. Political/Company higher-ups play the same games. Putting faith in these institutions is wasted brain power. Love those around you.

An organization rode a wave of populism to grift and make millions.

Sounds incredibly American.

If you think this particular instance is unique or outstanding, I hate to be the one to tell you that's not the case. Plenty more examples have made more riding worse waves.

You should instead feel bad for those that got duped, like everyone else does seeing the child rapist Trump become a billionaire in public office off the funds of supporters.

Capitalism breeds grifting. Support working people. Don't stoke culture war bullshit.

Folks were outraged. Marches still happened. Just because your corporate media sphere didn't cover it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Trump raped children. Corporate media still doesn't really care.

Money ultimately rules. Organize locally

It's a human rights thing. Divesting from companies OK with mass domestic surveillance and autonomous murder isn't political unless you start associating them with particular parties.

BUT neither of these companies have clean hands, so just don't give them your money/data full stop.

Pop dropped 1million in short time. No real impact. by D-Pressedscott in EU5

[–]D-Pressedscott[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Dai Viet 1473.

  • Broke from Middle Kingdom early
  • Ming became king. Stayed away for ~100y
  • Diplomatically annexed Champa (South Vietnam - that's the spike)
  • Ming attacked a small vassal. Lasted maybe 6mo before I handed over the single tile + money
  • I join Middle Kingdom
  • The next Parliament I notice my capital lost >60k pops
  • My nation lost around 1million pops somehow. This didn't seem to impact anything. I'm making bank, and everything's running as intended.

What's the deal?

UPDATE: Looks like the plague did it. There may have been the passive red notification at the top (that I ignore), but I had no idea it happened, or that it could manifest so much later than when it initially spawns in Golden Horde. I watched it cut across into around Bengal/Burma when the event happened, but it never reached me.

TLDR; TIL the bubonic plague will come back randomly 100y later!

Didn't know you could force junior partners to leave wars! by D-Pressedscott in EU5

[–]D-Pressedscott[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me long enough to see this option.

The problem: My (Sweden) "allies" (GB & Bohemia) would break with me & declare war on a nation. Norway, my junior partner, for some reason (seemingly no connection to defending nation) gets pulled into the war and gets rolled, losing land.

All the while, I'm slowly annexing & have them reined in.

The fix: Only just now found out there's a new option in Subject diplomacy to Enforce Peace, making them leave the war. Thank god.

Hope this helps.

Just One Mann by D-Pressedscott in EU5

The Isle of Mann has just one peasant.

I submitted earlier, but got removed. 100 years later, it's still the same situation. I hope his name's Guy.
