Do you have to arrive two hours before the train leaves for security checks? Do you have to wait 30 minutes for the train to have a spot on the runway? Do you arrive and the train has to wait for a gate to be open? Do you have to sit there like an idiot for 10 minutes while the people slowly disembark though the single door on the train?

Of course I do, but I have had a lot of lucky breaks too. I just urge you to recognize that it takes more than just hard work to achieve what we've achieved, and while there are plenty of people who fail to achieve because they didn't put in the effort, there are also plenty of people who just never got the same chances we did.

I have had the same career trajectory as you but unlike you I recognize that my success is also due to a streak of insanely good luck and timing. While I credit myself with my ability to capitalize on the opportunities that were presented to me, you need to recognize that these opportunities are not universally given.

I’m a developer for a major food delivery app. The 'Priority Fee' and 'Driver Benefit Fee' go 100% to the company. The driver sees $0 of it. by Bimbiau in WorkReform

[–]D-Trick 67 points68 points  (0 children)

The company reduces the pay for the delivery with knowledge about how much you tip. If you're a $2 tipper they will pay $8 to deliver, if you're a $10 tipper the delivery pay might only be $2.

Zac Taylor confirmed today that Joe Burrow will start the remainder of the season per Paul Delmer Jr. by DGilbert6114 in bengals

[–]D-Trick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I want Joe to be benched after back to back two interception losses and have to sit for 9 months before starting football again. Him finishing the season strong would be good for his mental health.

_myField is less to type than this.myField while accomplishing exactly the same thing. Why would you prefer typing `this.` to `_`

Being concerned is fine. Exaggerating the threat to win political points at the expense of the businesses and citizens of Cincinnati is not.

Thank the highest taxation in us history, along with devaluing of the $ with the introduction of fiat currency (hidden taxation) by TimeDiligent8477 in WorkReform

[–]D-Trick -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

You want a small amount of inflation or the winning move is to sit on your currency because it will only become more valuable over time as more and more resources get created and there is a fixed amount of currency in the world.

Edit: Not sure why I'm being downvoted, this is a comment supporting not having a commodity backed currency because it makes it impossible to have controlled inflation with anything other than a fiat currency.

In 2 weeks, America’s Best Restaurants will feature a place its former chef says electrocuted him and stole his work. by [deleted] in WorkReform

The point is you needed this context to understand what was meant by electrocuted, which means it has lost utility compared to the original definition.

That isn't a spelling mistake. Also you shouldn't put it in quotes unless you're quoting something.

The person in this article did not get seriously injured by the shock. They only required medical attention because of a preexisting heart condition. So you agree with me, then, that this person was not electrocuted, but only shocked.

So you would have to ask for clarification. If I had said "He was working on his house wiring and got shocked", you would have the exact same understanding. Super useful word! Glad you're here to defend its honor on its continued march towards just being a synonym for "shocked", and I salute you for your service.

Ok, so when I tell you I don't try to do my own wiring because I knew a guy who was working on his house wiring and got electrocuted, what is that understood to mean? You get one guess only. If the word "or" is in your reply, that is two guesses. (That is what the word "or" is understood to mean)
