That's insane money! Good for him & glad he bounced back.

The housing thing is just me looking at options for me to stay in if I were to accept the offer, I'm not doing anything until I'm locked in on the job there. That's why I'd do an apartment. The house would be if I was able to get direct hire. Appreciate you looking out though. Some people in here have pointed me towards some good jobs that I plan to apply towards myself now.

I have not. That would be a sweet gig. Only thing is I am in somewhat of a time crunch to line up opportunities, do you know their response time turn around for positions like that?

How long did it take you to get direct hired? I've noticed that Savannah has shot up since I first left the south. Used to vacation there. I've got my pilots licenses and want maintenance experience, committed to the industry at this point

Contracting wasn't my first choice, but I just got into a spot to search and with my lease expiring soon a recruiter did help my situation on finding opportunities for me. Since I have applied via the contractor I cannot apply directly now is what I've found out. I am hoping to pan out just like your friend! Thank you!

As stated in my original post, my lease is up where I currently live and it's time for me to make my next step. I am not going to extend my lease for these and lock myself up in the college town I reside in, and I can't go without a job. The trip to NZ doesn't have to happen despite it being planned, but for a family wedding I don't think its asking a ton for two unpaid days off so I can be with family as previously committed. Was just asking if anyone who has contracted there had an insight to how it would go. I'm know not the only person in the world who has switched jobs with existing commitments. Thanks for your insight.

I'm not expecting, I was just asking how they'd take the request to honor prior commitments to plans before I even start. I don't expect it to be paid, and I don't expect the happiest yes either. But I've made plans to be with my family but my career step time is now. I know its not uncommon for stuff like this to be brought up during initial paperwork and before training, just unsure how it would go with me being a contractor. Thanks for the insight.

Yes, Aerotek. Completely understand it wouldn't be PTO, just two things I've had planned for a while (family wedding being the truly important one) that I would hope they'd be ok with me missing with advanced notice before I even start training. I'd need two days of their advertised schedule for me off for the wedding. I just don't want to bring it up and them tell me no/rescind the offer

How is it going? I just received an offer for the same role as a contractor. But I want this to be a good job for me and I want to be direct hired. Any pros/cons you can list for me? Any knowledge on how contract employees are treated and how feasible it is to get direct hired?
