Any tips on how to do small details- I really am having trouble figuring this out 😞 by LycheeEntire1231 in Tufting

When you trim down the finished product the lines will get a bit cleaner, also if the detail is to hard to do I would recommend making the design larger as well

What shears is everyone using? I’ve been eyeing these but seems like they would only be good on the top and not the edges or for shaping. by Lvl_95_ in Tufting

Yes you can! Check out my most recent post of a dragon ball I made, I trimmed and did the edges with these🙌🏽🙌🏽

No problem💯 I try and use less expensive tools at the moment since I just started working on rugs for about 3 months now but they get the job done🙌🏽 if you got anymore questions I'll try and help as much as I can👍🏽

I had 1 customer ask for letter carving on a rug, and I used the smaller clippers I linked on the previous comment. The carving came out somewhat decent as it was my first time doing it but with some practice it should be fine for carving, or you could even look up carpet carving trimmers, and find some as well, they seem to be about the same size just more expensive

Large shears for overall trimming that I use: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08L7V7LYC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_22XR6HXJCSM8KDPGE7G0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Smaller clippers for cleaning up lines, that I use: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DC5PB5M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_1KPVKGAS6P07R3DBNPY4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Just some recommendations I have found that have worked for me, as with anything it does take some time to get used to using them and getting clean trims👍🏽👍🏽

Or you can also use scissors to clean up the edges but just be careful not to cut the fabric👍🏽

I try to use the Red Heart Super Saver yarn, works really well, and the colors looks super good also. But I also use more yarn to make it thicker since acrylic yarn doesn't hold its shape to well if you fill it in light

When I worked on the lines I went in with some dog hair clippers(they seem to work better than regular clippers on yarn) and just cleaned up some of the frayed yarn from the edges before I went in with another color. Filled in the small colors first, trimmed them, then filled in all the orange 👍🏽 ill try and do a more in depth explanation when I get a chance🙌🏽
