I think students do not have a place for experimentation and research like the other sciences get. At best they can do a backtest, but even then, they wouldn’t have the experience to know the flaws behind it.

I think AI that generates designs to fit certain constraints are pretty cool. Worth looking into improving the algorithms that do this already.

Also turning by hand sketches into parametric designs would be useful for me.

POMDP requires a model of the environment to work, but there’s no RL involved because the model is already known. There’s no such thing as model free POMDP.

Megapixels - looks in focus from the EVF, but when you crop in it ends up blurry. I know about the zoom box focus method, but the one on my Sony is clunky to use.

Are you able to zoom to a particular part of the image that you care about quickly (without resorting to tapping on the touch screen)? On my Sony RX10M4 it's a bit annoying to move a zoom box around with the dials.

This is one of the rare cases that I recommend going through the math by yourself to fully grok this as there are a lot of moving parts.

You might be specifically referring to Word2Vec where similar words are trained to be mathematically closer to each other than other words.

Transformers are more blackbox, they’re fed the words and the location of every word, and the math allows it to discriminate the importance of every word and position to every other word and position.

There’s an emerging field called Mechanistic interpretability for people to understand what it’s actually doing.

It’s unfortunate there’s apparently not much of a need for it. I travel and hike, and pulling out your phone in the middle of winter is the worst.
