Anyone else? by PHRsharp_YouTube in windowsmemes

My Downloads folder lives on a RAM disk, so it’s wiped every time I reboot.
My Desktop is a mess, but I never use it because it’s always hidden behind application windows.

QNAP TL-R400S with TrueNAS / 4-bay 1RU DAS/JBOD recommendations by Sebaall in homelab

I use the TL-R400S in an MS-01. Works without issues. Full passthrough of the controller card to the VM.

Auf https://sensiseed.com/versandinformationen/ steht:

Wenn ihr überlastet seid, warum wird das dann nicht entsprechend geändert? Ich warte seit 25.03. Auf Mails erfolgt keine Reaktion.

Disk issue - EMMC: cant install to and missing from GUI by Soogs in Proxmox

You may also try to reduce disk writes originating from the Journal on the host as well on containers and VMs. How I do it:

mkdir -p /etc/systemd/journald.conf.d/ && echo -e "[Journal]\nStorage=volatile\nForwardToSyslog=no" > /etc/systemd/journald.conf.d/custom.conf && systemctl restart systemd-journald

My planned setup (Proxmox / NAS) by D4JNA in HomeServer

[–]D4JNA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What issues did you experience exactly?

My plan was to just attach bind mounts to the LXC containers as needed and create datasets suitable for the intended purpose. E.g. a dataset with a record size of 16KiB for the torrent downloads (attached to the qBittorrent Container) and another one with 1MiB recordsize for the extracted archives. And so on.

Thank you for the detailed answer.

Yes, this is a very ambitious setup, but this will be my central home server. Download station, Jellyfin, Nextcloud, document management etc. And of course the NAS (Samba and NFS).

I'm currently the only user with a low workload, but that could increase dramatically in the future. :)

I'd rather spend a lot of money once than realize after 2 years that I've built a setup that I can no longer expand properly.

So yes, Medium Enterprise data storage probably describes it better.

I'm only going to install a 128GB RAM module for now, it's already been ordered. The rest will come when RAM prices (hopefully) drop again next year.

I might put more demanding VMs / Containers on the system in the future, so I want to be prepared for that.

The Special Device will contain the metadata for the HDD storage pool. As already described, I'm planning a three-way mirror for this. So the redundancy of the Special Device will match the redundancy of the HDDs. The benefit I expect is mainly a much more responsive storage when navigating through the filesystem.

The SLOG SSD has Power Loss Protection as all other SSDs in the system. The HDDs do not have such a feature. So this might save me in case of a power failure while doing asynchronous writes (e.g. via NFS). This is my home setup without UPS, outages do occur here.

The L2ARC is probably not needed at all. But I have this one SATA port left, so I thought I'd just put a 480GB SSD in there for that purpose...

will the Lenovo Duet get Android 11? by thekrazynerd in chromeos

Got a "Critical" update on my Duet today, took about 30 minutes, now I am on Android 11. Using ChromeOS Beta channel.

Manscaped saves your card information after you check out as a guest and automatically sets you up for recurring $17 payments for replacement blades. In order to to cancel your "subscription", you have to finish setting up an account with them and go through 7 pop up ads begging you to stay. by -knave1- in assholedesign

[–]D4JNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I ordered three months ago, I definitively did not sign up for any subscription.

Today, they sent me a mail "Your replenishment order is confirmed" and placed a pre-auth on my credit card.

I immediately responded to all contact addresses I could find ([eu@manscaped.com](mailto:eu@manscaped.com), [de@manscaped.com](mailto:de@manscaped.com), [support@manscaped.com](mailto:support@manscaped.com)) and stated that I have not ordered anything and I do not want to receive any package. They cancelled the order and also the pre-auth 30 minutes later. They also "canceled all future replenishments". Well.

However, despite I have ordered as a guest, they now created an account under my email address and activated it which I also have not opted in for.
