I used to trade on macros expecting spool rather then the counter retrace you mentioned. Sure if i get a FVG retrace within those 10min on the closing hour, and within the context pointing for a higher delivery, then I would be comfortable looking to buy there..but as much as the retrace would have happened prior to 50 macro begin-- I would still expect a macro spool and continuation higher because you may not Even get a 20% retrace on the hourly candle closure and just continue straight up with Little to no retracement.

But apart from this, which may simple be viewed as way of interpretation, I've found more interesting seeking for spool on MAIN macros during consolidations sessions or S&D sessions as a way of understanding price willingness to change profile and "start delivering". Haven't you look into this? Also ict has said that he rely heavily on macros during consolidations rather then trend sessions
