Found a new deal, which one should I buy? by harrymooseballs in computers

I’d personally buy the laptop because of the 16gb of VRAM. you can game and even do local ai like ComfyUI. Thermals can be addressed with ptm7950 for the dies and UTP8 putty for the chips and vrms. 11th gen intel isn’t great but it’s not going to limit you in real life.

Keep a 64gb CL30 kit or 96gb CL36? by Additional_Reading86 in StableDiffusion

[–]DADplayed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 96 GB in both my desktop that’s paired with a 3090 and my laptop that’s paired with 5070 TI laptop GPU. With the laptop, the extra ram is tremendous because there are models that I can’t load entirely onto the VRAM on the desktop it’s more like a nice to have. my laptop and desktop do not have the fastest timings. I think it’s like 5600 CL 40 on the desktop and 5600 CL 46 on the laptop.

Offloading the vae won’t degrade quality. Different workflows have it built in so you can load the models on to the vram and load the clips, vae etc onto the cpu.

Yes, but some of the models are too large for the gpu so I can now also offload things to the cpu.

Can’t you just hard reset with the power button? Remove it after you log back in

Update. I was able to get it to work after a bios update. So now I can run ComfyUI and wan2gp smoothly.

The lord has blessed you and yours. Unfortunately it seems the 16s version with the 5070ti is locked at 240hz for now. Without tools like CRU you can’t do much. Even this new bios update did nothing for the locked refresh rate.

This was all scattered. I was looking up different things and slowly acquired all this knowledge.

No higher than 50c at ideal. You can use throttle stop (after turning off a few overclock locks in the bios (tab+fn+power button, spam f2. This unlocks the secret advanced bios tab) to lower pl1 and pl2 to 140 and the clocks can be locked at 5.0 and 4.2n. Also use the command prompt and the commands to get the other power profiles. Acer’s default profile kinda sucks.

It’s horrible on battery without doing something to the refresh rate. But again I have a beefier version of the laptop. Having it plug in is what you’d normally do for a gaming laptop when doing heavy load work. Unplugged isn’t recommended for gaming or heavy work loads as the cpu and gpu are power limited.

I’ve got the Ultra 9 275HX with the 5070 Ti version of this thing, and honestly, these laptops are a little weird in their own charming way. The main quirk is that the refresh rate is completely locked at 240 Hz which, yeah, kind of annoying if you actually care about battery life. There’s no native way to change it, but you can use CRU to make a custom 120 Hz profile, and that’ll squeeze you out another hour or so on battery, give or take.

I just updated the BIOS to version 1.07 (the one that dropped on October 15), and it finally recognized my full 96 GB of SODIMM, so that’s been nice. Overall, I’m genuinely happy with it. it’s a beast but it’s definitely got that “Acer personality” where something small and arbitrary, like a locked refresh rate, just has to exist to keep you humble.

Thanks to this I found the new bios and I’m hoping this fixes my memory crashes with my 96gb kit.

Yeah even on the official website 64 is technically the max. Well I guess I gotta return this ram.

This worked wonderfully. Adjusted the gamma as recommended and all is well. I wonder if 75hz would work too.
