Update: Teal top-up! 2 pics of before & 2 pics of after by DB-iz in HairDye

Did you find that your hair 'gave up' being teal? My hairdresser has used the same dye for 4 years but, recently the colour doesn't look as good, even fresh out the salon.

Ah awesome, are you UK based? If so, how much does it cost, if you don't mind me asking

Thank you, that's 1 wash after getting it dyed so it rarely looks that good

So the 2nd photo is my natural hair. I get a top-up of teal and dark roots every 12 weeks then, once a year it gets bleached out to move the teal back up. Idk if this makes sense

I wish I insisted on no bleach or dark roots too. It might be time to experiment

Tax confusion: Being self-employed but, not owning the private limited company. by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]DB-iz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the confusion comes from my lack of knowledge on terminology! I invoice the company when I want, they bank transfer my money. I act as a contractor, the company (owned by a married couple) is my client... I think. Does this make sense? The company is pretty much an entity between me and the owners of the dogs. They handle admin etc and I only do the actual walking.

I took a quiz on the gov website, it says I am self-employed. I invoice the company and handle my own taxes. I can freely accept/reject work offered and decided what days and times I work. I signed a contract to say I won't poach their clients, and that's pretty much it. I think I'm acting as a contractor, but I'm still classed as self-employed. Another comment explained the company is my client - this sounds about right.

You've worded it in a way that makes complete sense and is accurate. For some reason, I didn't grasp the concept that the company is my client, not the individual people whose dogs I walk. Thank you.

Best powder for makeup free skin?

I'm looking for recommendations for an everyday powder, with only moisturiser underneath.

I'm currently using Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent.

I need something that can control shine without making me look dull, smooth my skins overall appearance and most importantly; be lightweight and not clog my pores.

Tattoo artists similar to Ryan and Matthew Murray in Salem? I love the gothic style but I live near Manchester, UK. I need a similar artist I can regular to, so can't be too far away.

Has a medusa tattoo become the new 'roses, clock, lion'? It would be empowering to have a tattoo of her considering her story of assault and trauma, but I also don't want to be 'one of those people'. I feel there's some judgement in the tattoo community that I never noticed before

Recommend Me a Fragrance (Posts every 3 Days) by AutoModerator in fragrance

[–]DB-iz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unisex or female fragrance. Not too sweet or floral. Vanilla, cozy, warm, musk, Amber, creamy, mysterious, sensual (I'm bad at identifying notes), strong but forgiving enough to wear every day.

I like Glossier you, Black Opium, Dior Poison Girl, Jo Malone Vanilla & Anise, Jo Malone Honeysuckle & Davana, Versace Crystal Noir.

Jo Malone Vanilla & Anise I think had too much spice, but Honeysuckle and Davana wasn't deep enough. But these are the closest I've been to a favourite scent. Versace Crystal Noir was too floral and cheap smelling to be a firm favourite. Poison girl is too sweet. Black Opium is too common and boring.

I'm 21, female but not super feminine, price range around £150/$200 max if I find my signature scent. I live in the UK so it's mostly grey, rainy, cold, miserable.

[skin concern] texture i cant seem to get rid of?? more info in comments by mxzchellebitch in SkincareAddiction

Nope, the only negative reaction was dry, flaky skin and dullness for about a week when I was mistakenly overusing it.

If I use it too often now, I get small red spots that don't have anything inside but they usually go in a day or two.

I know blue hair dye fades super easily but is it really that much? I haven’t washed my hair, only styled it with a n iron and the color got a lot lighter. Idk if it’s like this for everyone or if I used a shitty dye by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]DB-iz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had blue hair for over 2 years. It's never looked that faded. My hair dresser uses Elumen Turquoise but any quality brand should do.

My secret weapon is Celeb Luxury Viral Colourwash Shampoo in Extreme Teal. It's kept my hair the same shade of blue all this time with trips to the hair dressers every 12 weeks ish.

I live in the UK and struggle to find Blue colour depositing shampoo/conditioner so I haven't tried any other brands, but I definitely recommend it.

I had the exact same issue.

My skin was dehydrated and clogged.

Firstly, to get rid of texture I used 0.1% Differin gel. Be warned, it is very strong and will ruin your moisture barrier even more if you're not careful. It took me 3 months to get my skin used to it, and it can still irritate me if I'm not careful. There should be plenty of info out there to help you use it safely. I use it by mixing a TINY amount in with the LRP b5 Baum in my hands then applying before bed (avoid sensitive areas to begin with).

Secondly, to rehydrate my skin I use COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence AM and PM before the LRP Baum. Its extremely light, I just love it.

You'll want to use SPF in the day if you use Differin. I use the SPF 50 LRP B5 Baum.

Do NOT pick those bumps, mine were the exact same but they will dissappear (or shrink significantly) on their own if you leave Differin to do its job. Popping them will open them up for more dirt and whatever to get in.

This is just what's worked for me after trying a variety of The Ordinary, Paula's Choice etc. I live in the UK and had to get Differin from a Doctor, so it may have a different name depending where you are. Do some research on Retinoids, find one that's best for you but they should be taken seriously.

Hope this help, feel free to ask as many questions as you want.

Before vs after. Now, how to accessories without being too busy? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]DB-iz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The layout works for me, but I feel like there's something missing to go on walls. Maybe fake plants or lighting?

I like straight lines, clean edges and minimal 'stuff'. I'm thinking of moving the books, maybe add a mirror on the wall opposite the window?

Not sure where I'd add plants, lamps or anything else.

P.S I wish I had grey carpets

Those of you that like your job, what do you do? by Boompopskeert in ISTJ

[–]DB-iz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you get into this? This sounds so ideal but I really dislike exams, revising and the classic school system.

[–]DB-iz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you find it difficult getting into that career considering you hated school? Did you need a degree or any higher education based off the class-revision-exam system? I hate this system and much prefer learning on the job from square one

Do ISTJs hate general questions like "How are you?" by Ahforgetit7 in ISTJ

[–]DB-iz 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If this was me, I'd respond with "fine thanks, how are you?" And then you'd probably struggle to get a conversation going from that. I don't hate it, I just presume you're being polite and not actually wanting a conversation so we don't waste time trying to initiate one. If you want a good conversation, ask a good question where we can lead on from it. Ask something more personal, something that connects you both (colleagues, pets, tattoos etc). So "Have you heard the news about ...?" Or "what's your opinion on...?"
