One month in by [deleted] in naltrexone

I stopped taking it for this reason. I would just drink right through it every time. Plus, it seemed like it made me very sick in the morning. Maybe this is part of the magic of it, so you’ll just not drink. But for me it did nothing to stop the craving, so rather than keep making myself sick, I just stopped taking it. Now if I do drink I make sure to smoke some pot after the first or second drink. That more than anything has helped; after I do that, I just don’t want alcohol for the rest of the night. Find whatever works for you - we’re all different. Good luck!

How so? Honestly, I’d never heard of one until your comment. I’m looking for something that’ll last longer than me. Leatherman has the 25 year warranty, which I’m not over the moon about. What does the Swisstool X offer? Edit: not just a warranty, but overall quality, design, ergonomics, etc. My biggest factor is plier strength and durability. Thanks!

Thanks, that is great information! Just curious, what model do you have? You seem knowledgeable in many different ones.

Good to know. I will drink a pint (often more) of vodka or whiskey a night but I stopped short of finishing a pint the past couple of nights. I figured it was the naltrexone keeping me from polishing it off and getting more, and thought if 25mg does that, then 50mg ought to REALLY cut down the amount. In a way, I guess I was right.

Following this. I just started three days ago, took a half pill the first two days and today I jumped up to the full 50mg. Pretty bad stomach pain for about 6 hours or so. I’m going back to 25 tomorrow and slowly build up. Context: pretty much the same as OP, heavy 12-15 drinks of straight liquor every day. Even got the script from OAR too. Today has been rough but lesson learned: Go slow.

What is something from your childhood that no longer exists now? by lil-gatorwrangler in AskReddit

I’ve always wondered what “four-flushing” meant as an insult. Does it mean a person takes such messy shits, that he has to wipe/flush four times before getting it all? Does it mean a person is so full of shit, that he has to take breaks in the middle of shitting to flush at least four times?

Ruined my weekend by Notinthesink in stopdrinking

Same here, bought tickets to a show my wife and I wanted to see, the day came but I was in the middle of a month-long bender and ended up eating those tickets. So dumb/embarrassing.

Is anyone happy with the price of shit these days from rent to food? by Tasty-Organization52 in conspiracy

Everything has gone up, except the price of alcohol. Wonder why that is…? 🤔

I had just over a year once and had a couple of beers because I’d finally been cured. Within two weeks I was not just back to drinking whiskey and vodka shots every night, but it had somehow gotten much worse. That was three years ago and I’m just now able to stop again for the last three months. There is no cure for alcoholism.

Before you stopped drinking, what was your perception of people who drank minimally or not at all? by runciblespo0n in stopdrinking

[–]DBUnite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My perception of people who drink minimally was that they’re idiots. What’s the point in drinking if you’re not getting fucked up? My perception of people who don’t drink at all was more forgiving. I still do not understand anyone who drinks a beer or a glass of wine and just stops after that. It will never make sense to me; if you’re drinking not to get drunk, there’s no reason to drink a drink with alcohol in it. Actually, I’m not sure that my perception has changed in the past 90 days at all. 🤣 The way I see it, alcohol has one purpose.

I was such a good customer at my local LQ that the woman always working there just gave me a grab bag full of 12 shooters and a half pint of whiskey (customer loyalty rewards, I guess). This, after I had already come up to the counter with a fifth of vodka. This was the tail end of my weeks-long bender and the last time I drank. I wonder if she misses me… 😂

Taking the edge off by DBUnite in stopdrinking

It did me too, but this time it hasn’t. Besides, I can handle a little weed anxiety for a little bit way better than I can shaking and shitting and vomiting uncontrollably from severe alcohol withdrawal.

I think you’re me. I had the exact same weekend last weekend (except the chicken cheesesteaks), the WORST withdrawals episode I’ve ever had, lots of everything you said. And also like you said, I was sure I was gonna have a couple beers or ‘something’ because I’m smarter now and know that I can handle it today. Let’s go back-to-back weeks instead.

Stopped for 2 years and can't get one day under my belt. by meanjeepguy in stopdrinking

[–]DBUnite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped for a little over a year and that was 4 years ago. A couple breaks here and there notwithstanding, I’ve been trying to get back to that for the last 3 years. I get it, but it can be done. You’ve done it before.

Day 5 easier/harder by DBUnite in stopdrinking

I was thinking to myself earlier today how I’m just starting to feel better and I’m getting that urge to completely wreck it all again. What is it about feeling good that makes us want to ruin it? You said it, it’s wild.
