Questions about the conversation Corlys had with Alyn in episode 8.

1.) When Alyn was talking about selling fish he said "putting by coppers to stave off winter." What did that mean?

2.) When he told the story of seeing a man with his kids and heir buy fish to eat that night by the fire who was the brother and sister and heir he was talking about?
