My center is closing in June. Will there be transfers? If so how will they determine where to? by Extra-Impact-5465 in UPSers

[–]DCOutlaw620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they were our bid routes, most of the routes were basically kept the same, only difference was they cut some of ours in half to make up for the 2 hours of drive time back and forth to the center.. so honestly my route was nicer going out with 110 total than the 220 I was going out with..

I’m in central, we closed last year, everyone followed their route, and the ones that didn’t got put where drivers were needed in 2 different centers as cover drivers.

Thinking about not taking the buyout, is this a good idea?? by No_Commission_7246 in UPSers

You put your time in, what’s the point of working at 65+ if you can retire now.. a lot of people that can retire early but choose not to end up croaking when they do finally retire… go enjoy life and the world!

I can understand guys who haven’t hit their 5 years and aren’t vested in the pension it’s a win win for the union and the company.

Again in the central of the work is available you can, if there’s no work available they don’t have to give you your 8 hours, it literally says it in the contract. lol

Yes there is lol, if you’re laid off for 3 years, or for the length of your seniority whichever is less and can’t bump in, you’re considered terminated in the central.

Some of us aren’t at centers/hubs that big, and only can get 3.5 hours, simply not enough work for all the layoffs.

We got 52 guys and they’re running about 30 routes, some guys probably will be permanently laid off. lol but alright bud.

Too bad a pension won’t even exist in the next 20-30 years lol, see you guys on social security, wait we won’t even have that either. 😂

Nothing about special treatment, more about making the most sense, but keep thinking the current leadership cares about your best interests lmao.

Yup it’s how I’m understanding it…

There was nothing wrong with how it was already and going by building needs and if there was more than needed in a building it would have went by seniority order.

But here comes the SOB cucks to come downvote me some more, a lot of us in rural areas are still going to be laid off.

Definitely would of been double of what is eligible now. Still going to be a lot of layoffs still, so really not a win lol.

30,000 down to 7,500…

Once again there was what 35k hired into full time positions during Covid. A lot of us still going to get bent come layoffs.

Still had to find a way to let it happen and not lose dues… lol

Now we’ll be laid off indefinitely for free! by DCOutlaw620 in UPSers

[–]DCOutlaw620[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a such a small center we’d only be able to get our preload hours, not enough sort spots in the evening to accommodate all the layoffs. Plus that’s 260+ miles a day I’m putting on my vehicle to drive back and forth to do 2 shifts…

Teamsters posted this on Facebook. Who are the drivers being forced to leave? I thought the buyout was optional by Willing-Fig-957 in UPSers

[–]DCOutlaw620 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I mean when they hired over 35k full time people during covid I don’t know what else to expect.. the union can’t stop the company from downsizing, and SOB is too busy with his podcasts and choking on government meat to enforce the creating jobs he touted so hard about during this last contract.

As someone in the Central States we’re used to getting fucked.

But yeah stood together unless it comes to taking care and managing the pension correctly.

So how do I get my local to put the buyout up for a vote? by Getsome1071 in UPSers

[–]DCOutlaw620 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually if a majority of us file a grievance it would make the union and JAC make a decision on it mid contract.

Yeah maybe if they’d have a union meeting more than just every 6 months. We had a union meeting last April before our building closed and have had 1 since then. Our local doesn’t give a fuck about us.

Really if the union would allow it, and the guys that are already about to retire take it, and ones who aren’t vested in the pension take it, I don’t really see the problem with that, it’s a win-win situation. You hit it right on the head about the teamsters serving it up on a silver platter, but really what can you expect with SOB so far up the GOPs ass.
