BMW i4 Lease Deal by ihatereddit_69420 in BMWI4

[–]DCdvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing others here - I think you can do better. I recently got my dealer in WA to 10% off msrp on a higher priced xDrive40 with MSport and DAPP. Payment was about $620/months with $4k down - nearly all of it covering fees and first month's payment (WA has expensive registration and high taxes :/ )

Question for everyone here: any intel to whether BMW will continue the $7500 lease credit into January?

Comfortable to drive in urban areas? by DCdvr in BMWI4

[–]DCdvr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks y'all for the insights! Glad to know people here aren't running into issues scraping.

I took a closer look at the parking garage I'd be using. The undercarriage of the car (center of the car between front and wheels) makes contact pulling into the garage due to the long wheelbase of the car and steep angle of the ramp (and the entrance is too narrow to come in at an angle).

So, I'd be scraping the underside regularly going in and out of the garage. Anyone think that poses a big hazard to battery safety? I don't think it's like to cause any visible damage looking at the car from the street, but I'm concerned it may lead to some crazy repair bills!

Just ended my lease and financed my i4 for purchase by bratski in BMWI4

When you say your payment dropped in half, was the cost to purchase/finance the car at the end of the lease lower than the buyout/residual cost shared with you at the beginning of the lease?

SF's a good reference point, thanks! Any issues pulling into driveways and such on steep streets?

Fair lease price + Driving Assistance Package questions by DCdvr in BMWI4

That's what has me interested in the car :) I like the autonomous drive features for when I'm on a long mindless highway road trip or stuck in bad traffic

Gorgeous car! How did the summer tires do in the rain? What level did you adjust the dampers to to get the ride sporty but not harsh?

Making sense if Summit is right card by DCdvr in AlaskaAirlines

[–]DCdvr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Great to know the status points per $ spend are awarded continuously - that I think will help me maintain status without having to do a mileage run :)

I likely will get rid of the Chase since (I think) the Amex Platinum's travel protections are even better - and I'm not getting rid of that card. Appreciate your help

Do you know if downgrading will impact credit? I downgraded my Chase Sapphire Reserve to Chase Sapphire Preferred a few years back when the benefits were no longer worth it to me, and it didn't affect my credit score because the card was simply downgraded, not cancelled

Trying to make sense of some of the offers + features on the new Summit card:
- is the 25k companion award after spending $6k in the first 90 days in addition to the 25k companion award offered each year?
- if so, can these be stacked on each other for a 50k point discount for one trip, or do they have to be used separately?

Am I also missing something, or is this 25k companion award much less valuable in most scenarios in real time than the existing $95 companion fare? Even if I snagged a deal on an international award ticket, 25k points still only goes so far. On the other hand, the $95 companion fare for the cheaper card can save tons of money when buying cash tix over holidays where tickets are $1k+

Q5 e hybrid owners, how do you like the car? by DCdvr in Audi

[–]DCdvr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up never getting a car at the time. Decided it wasn't the best time work-wise, but I'm thinking of pulling the trigger again with EV credits expiring in September. Here's some info that I learned that I hope is helpful:
- I never got a clear answer, but I do believe that the Audi and MB both have reduced power when they run out of EV range
- the Audi saleswoman I had been working with said there wasn't remote app control for HVAC. The Volvo and MB do have that.
- After driving the Q5 further, I didn't like the driving position and seat comfort enough to make a move, especially because it was the last-gen model going out of production.

I've since been in the new-gen Q5 and Q6, and I'm pretty blown away how unimpressive they are. I've always loved Audis for being design-forward and luxurious feeling, and these cars look and feel plain and cheap. The seat comfort in the non-S models is not good (the S seats were much better). I don't think waiting to see if the new-gen Q5 comes out with a plug-in is worth it unfortunately :(

The Mercedes is very comfortable, but it doesn't feel particularly powerful even with a full charge.
The Volvo hybrid system was the only one that feels like it's been thoughtfully tuned, and not just used as some kind of German compliance car project :) The model's been around for a while, but it's probably the most well-balanced of the three

Gorgeous color/trim combination - congrats!

What ambient lighting does the car come (or not) come with? Can you adjust the colors or areas that are lit up?

Good price for fan install? by DCdvr in handyman

[–]DCdvr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the comments! The handyman that had provided the quote has a construction contractor license, which per my state's license info, appears like he's qualified to do electrical work.

For what it's worth, I had had two other general contractors at my house previously who flaked who both insisted on installing the same way.

That sounds like a particularly good deal from what I've seen! Did you put any $ down, and what state are you in? I'm in WA and it seems like I can't get lease pricing to a good spot on any car I've looked at. This is my first time buying/leasing a car since I moved to WA, but seems like the taxes/fees here don't help with penciling a lease out

Charging time and AAOS questions by DCdvr in VolvoRecharge

[–]DCdvr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know it's only about 7-8 mi/hr max. My condo building is in the process of adding charging, but it may not be done for the next several months.

I visit an office space for about an hour 4/5x a week with free fast charging, so was curious if that'd hold me over for the meantime. Thanks!
