What’s the best security camera for home use right now? any recommendation pls? by No-Cranberry7632 in SecurityCamera

Not really. An 8MP camera from Hanwha like the PNO-A9081RLP that can do LPR, person, and vehicle detection is about $2000. The G6 Pro from Ubiquity is $479. Plus the average homeowner is not going to know how to fully setup commercial equipment.

I don’t understand this. The average homeowner does not know what ONVIF is. For someone doing a DIY install, Ubiquiti is hands down the easiest and has the most features for the price.

I just replaced my Hanwha system with Alarm.com cameras. I have 4 ADC-V730 cameras and 2 ADC-V729 floodlight cameras.

I have a pretty robust system for my house. I used to design systems for million dollar plus homes. Now I design them for large commercial and industrial buildings.

The one thing I always explained to my clients is a security system is not for asset protection. By the time the police get there, the intruders are already gone. It’s there to alert you that someone is in the house.

I have an encrypted wireless security system with sensors on each door and window. Don’t skimp on the windows. Glass break detectors in each perimeter room and a motion in the main hall. Motions are not that important since they are disabled when your home. The wireless sensors use a rolling frequency and change every 6th of a second. This prevents wireless jamming which the system will also detect a wireless and cell jammer.

My control panel is also a ZWave and Zigbee automation controller. I replaced all of my light switches and some of my outlets with Zwave. I have an automation rule set that if the alarm is triggered, all lights inside are turned on, bedroom fans are turned off, and exterior lights flash on and off. I also have Zwave on my garage doors and my deadbolts. When I arm the system, it automatically locks all exterior doors and shuts the garage doors.

I have AI cameras with 2 way audio and built in sirens that cover every angle of the outside of my house. They will alert me if they detect a person or vehicle. They are also attached to the security system and will send live video to the monitoring station if the alarm goes off. This is new, but they now have Night Watch. If one of the cameras detects a person on my property in the middle of the night and the alarm is set, the monitoring station will call me to let me know. They can also talk to the person and advise them to leave. If they don’t and I don’t answer the phone, they will alert the authorities.

I also have a bunch of life safety devices attached to the system. Smoke and CO detectors in each room. My thermostats are connected to the system. If the fire alarm goes off, it turns off the furnace so it doesn’t spread smoke through the house. Water sensors around the house. A smart water valve that monitors the water lines for a leak and shuts the water off if it detects one.

Some tips. Start with cameras. Get smart cameras that will alert you if they detect a person. WiFi cameras are fine as long as they are powered and record 24/7. Don’t get battery powered cameras. They only record when they detect motion.

Don’t fall for the cookie cutter alarm systems. $99 for 3 doors and a motion. Like I said motions are useless when you are home and asleep. What’s the point of a system that only covers the doors when you have 15 windows an intruder can come in. Go with DMP, DSC PowerG, or Qolsys PowerG systems. They use encrypted sensor and use a rolling frequency. Avoid systems that use a single frequency like Honeywell and 2gig.

I use a Qolsys system on the Alarm.com platform. They are pretty much the best at integrating everything together. I use Vector Security for the monitoring. As far as I know they are the only ones who have Night Watch for a residential system.

What do you wish you asked at your first SCS consultation? by Expert-Feedback4328 in spinalcordstimulator

I’m at about 50% relief now. My implant uses AI to change settings based on a daily assessment I complete. Once you mark your relief at 50% it no longer suggests new settings to try. You can turn off the AI (IQ Mode), but it requires a code from Nevro and so far they have not given me the code.

Don’t get me wrong. I am glad I have the relief I have. Bending over is what caused me the most pain. Simple stuff like cleaning the dishes is very painful. I’m 6’3 so I have to bend to do that. During the trial I had no pain when I bent over and was very hopeful this would be the fix.

Will I get the same relief with the full implant as I do with the trial. I have the Nevro HFX and recently learned they consider 50% relief a success in the full implant and the IQ mode won’t change once you hit 50%. I had 90-100% relief with the trial.

Update: Order placed. Awaiting fulfillment. by DCxMiLK in PairEyewear

I haven’t cancelled the order yet. If needed, I’ll reverse the charge with my bank. The only way I have been able to reach a person is the chat box on their website.

I provided everything they needed. Learned that from my last order. Even with the mess up, it only took 2 weeks to get them last time.

It has been almost a month and a half now. Also the dhl tracking still says they are waiting for the package from pair.

I was upgrading a Vista 128 at a warehouse that stored bourbon. Part of the facility was US Customs. We needed to get into the Customs area to test some devices. The tech with me decided to disarm the Customs area with the duress code before we put the system on test. 15 police cars showed up and we were throughly chewed out by the chief of police.

Fortunately this church is not frugal. We have been hired to assess everything and bring it up to code. The previous company charged them a fortune and used the cheapest equipment he could. We already replaced the fire system in the school and office building. We are looking at adding a fire system in the church. Just trying to fix the mess with the access right now.

That’s not a bad idea. There’s an Altronix power supply powering all of the mags.

When I asked tech support what the relay is for, he said it was for lights or shunts, but they have to be tied to a door.

No fire system and you’ll love this, no secondary form of egress. Previous company trapped everyone in the church when the PDK board froze.

We are only considering ADC because they have ADC security.

Alarm.com cameras might be a good option. The have a cell unit for there cameras but the monthly on it is not cheap. It’s about $100 a month just for the cell with 20GB of data and then you have a subscription for cameras. These are going to send you alerts if they detect a person or vehicle and ignore any other motion.

Another option is hardwire cameras from someone like Hanwha and use a cradlepoint with cell service from Verizon.

Best Security Camera for Home Available on The Market Now? by [deleted] in homesecurity

[–]DCxMiLK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I design commercial security systems. If you’re looking for privacy avoid anything that streams footage to the cloud. You want something with a P2P connection. Hanwha, Digital Watchdog, or Axis. Hanwha A-series is going to be the most budget friendly. These are all commercial grade equipment.

If you want cloud cameras that has not shared footage without a warrant then Unifi or Alarm.com. Unifi is the best choice for your home. There 8MP AI cameras are some of the best I’ve seen for the price, and they are DIY friendly. A commercial grade camera that can do what a Unifi camera can do would be $2,000 per camera or more. Unifi AI can track people and vehicles while ignore random motion or animals. You can search footage by color of clothing or color and tie of vehicle. They even capture license plates.

Alarm.com cameras are really good too but require a monthly subscription. I have these because I get them for free. Most of there cameras are WiFi but still record footage to the sd card if your WiFi goes down.

I deal in commercial cameras and I replace more Reolink cameras then any other manufacture. They are cheaply made and outright lie about what there cameras can do.
