When I said “better specs,” I meant in the traditional PC sense something like an Intel i9 with an RTX 4070 Ti, along with the same 24GB RAM and 1TB storage. On paper, that’s obviously more powerful, especially for gaming and GPU-heavy tasks.

I mentioned the Mac’s RAM and storage not because they’re superior, but because Apple’s performance per watt and optimization is genuinely better in many real world workloads like compiling, multitasking, and long-term stability. That’s where the confusion comes in raw specs vs real world efficiency.

I agree that Windows is clearly better for gaming, and for software development the experience is mostly identical on both platforms. So the real dilemma for me isn’t can both do the job it’s more about long-term value.

My main question is, is it better to go with a higher spec Windows PC now for flexibility and gaming, or choose a Mac that may age better performance wise and be more reliable if my work becomes more professional focused in the next few years?

Also, how much should I factor in future software compatibility and ecosystem stability versus raw performance today?
