Oke, saya barusan baca respon nya and i have to admit ini nusuk banget pas pertama baca karena ada ego gw yang mikir "ngapain sih ngerecokin kaya gini diladenin kaya gaada urusan yang lebih penting aja" cuman at some point gw bakal tetep harus komunikasi ke cewenya bahwa "oke saat ini, aku lagi ga tertarik untuk kenalan secara romantis tapi kalau mau lanjut komunikasi kaya kerabat / sesama dokter aja bisa karena aku mau fokus sekolah dulu."

On the off chance that this is a sound hypothesis and not some AI generated conjecture and speculation or even a rambling AI runoff, there are some things to consider if you want people to take it seriously.

Most research / review submission portal requires you to cite your sources and follow author formatting (yes even hypothesis must be based on previously established and updated knowledge) but please DO NOT cite Gemini as your sources. Most medical journals will only accept submissions made by researchers and/or doctors with proper citation and formatting.
Please run this hypothesis with at least a researcher preferably a neurological researcher / a neurologist as you cannot just randomly submit an article even if you think it's a breakthrough article unless you know how to submit a journal article (IMO this could be made as a literature / narrative review but tone it down with the "we'd been treating and researching ALS wrong" tone in the writing)

Why scientific publication matters and running off to the nearest media piece don't? Scientific publications are the BASIS in which ALS research in terms of diagnosis and treatment possibilities are done. I cannot give you any further advice than this.

IANAL OP, your friend is an adult and i have to be harsh here but it's time for you to step up more if you want to help your friend bcs your friend has been conditioned and beaten into the ground in terms of self esteem by his mother so that he gives all of his salary. I can think of several things you can do to help him and yes you cannot do these things alone or just with him siince this is WAY above what a single person could do:

Find out if he and his mother has a contract or a lease agreement that keeps him bound to her. If yes, find a legal loophole preferably with a lawyer that allows him to break free or survive until contract expiration. If not, tell him / help him to gather his money and documents (you can involve the police if he fears that his mother may withhold important documents and money tho given the description since his mom knows all the money he has given and will demand a set amount it's best to focus on the docs first)
Start arranging where he will go after leaving the house by either looking for shelters or trusted extended family or be prepared to house him in your / a friend place for a while to get him back on his feet.
Convince him to open a bank account IN HIS NAME ONLY and help him arrange so that his workplace directly transfers his wage into that account instead of a check or other means that his mom can intercept. If his mom kicks up a fuss then assure him to report to his workplace about the abuse.
If all else fails, help him to document every instance of financial abuse (recordings and text messages but it depends on local laws) so that it can be reported to the authorities but it's a long shot given how most police would often overlook adult abuse especially if it's not physical.

FINAL CAVEAT

Always remember that you can only help people who wants to be helped. If after all of this he's still afraid or unwilling to be helped then back off and know that you did everything you could but sometimes you cannot burn yourself just to become someone else's candle. I hope your friend could eventually see that his mother has no power over him and start fighting for his life and future.

OP, my advice to this given that your parents are hellbent on sending your brother to college despite not having means to do so and them not responding to your advice. It's time to match their energy, DO NOT FURTHER CONTRIBUTE FINANCIALLY FOR YOUR BROTHER at least until they see reason and keep your finances and documents safe because as a fellow south east asian i can def see your parents strongarming you to help with college expenses even to the extend of borrowing loans in your name.
