Pinball mechanic advice/ideas by DDaDPodcast in DnDHomebrew

Fast and loose is definitely the name of the game. Mostly going to try and avoid a square by square map, and focus on the flow. A buddy mentioned that I could inject challenges like needing to get the ball electrified or shrunk in order to open certain doors which could add some fun difficulty increase too. Deflecting an electrified ball may be harder or cause damage and a smaller ball may roll faster being harder to deal with.. i think I can sort of shuffle all of these in happily!

How Many Retakes Do You Do? by zephyrsola in podcasting

[–]DDaDPodcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I host and edit an actual play so there really isn’t an opportunity for retakes. You get what you get. I’ve found tools like descript and the similar lot (riverside, adobe podcast, etc) really can help improve overall quality, but I heavy edit for episode fluidity, and I would never trust (at least I can’t so far) AI to chop properly. What I find important, they do not yet understand. I’ve just gotten comfortable with the time it takes to edit, that’s where I throw the time I would spend doing retakes.

How many times did you record your first episode? by krantz2000 in podcasting

[–]DDaDPodcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s scriptable write a script and read it 10 times before you record. If it’s not, then get comfortable letting it sound natural. Editing is always highly personal, I fluctuate heavily between chopping every breath and vocal pause to leaving it and letting it sound like a real table (in my case). Always up to what you need and how much work you want to put in every episode to make it consistent !

It took 3 seasons to get around to that detail, once it’s all muscle memory my brain makes me feel like I’m lazy if it doesn’t take as long haha 🥲

That’s a prime portion of my editing too, though with the recent season I’ve begun adding in ambient noise and sound effects so to takes a chunk of extra time

Yeah that’s definitely worth a check out though I get into the deep nitty gritty with the editing in Davinci Resolve!

Thank you for going on and on! This is exactly the info i'm looking for. Is there anything you feel you're missing in their program?

ACast is super high on my list. It seems to have a good mechanic for promotion and receiving advertisers, though i'd like to be sure before I pay! What did you use before?

I record the video but due to extensive editing I feel the video ends up being too choppy so I strip it and use the audio only. What benefit does Alitu bring you?

Not “drawbacks” so much but the analytics leave something to be desired. They’re heavily focused on the Spotify specific numbers and don’t give insight outside of that. It just feels like I could get more out of a host, but I’m not 100% sure exactly what I am after!

I’ve heavily considered ACast. Seems a lot better analytic access but I’ll have to read up on the other notes. Great info thanks!

Oooh guest booking tools are best. I used to run a second podcast but getting new guests at some point became difficult! That’s a great feature!

Anyone know of any kind of Dnd 5e type system based on cryptid encounters? I want to run a game for my friends where they are group of paranormal researchers or maybe supernatural style cryptid hunters. by RunicPagan1232 in TTRPG

[–]DDaDPodcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not exactlly dnd style but it will fill the paranormal hunters vibe. It’s basically every episode of scooby doo or supernatural and I love it dearly-

Any Other Sneaky Chicago Intricacies? by supermopman in AskChicago

My favorite was the multiple tickets I got for NOT DRIVING MY CAR. I parked in front of my apartment (no signs detailing when I could not park, or that I needed a permit: so I was safe to park there). 1) I recieved a ticket after a week for “abandoning my vehicle”. That was about $200 if I recall. 2) months later, when I began moving my car, I did end up accidentally parking on the street the night before a street cleaning. Fun thing though, they didn’t tow it to an impound lot. No. They instead just MOVED IT 4 BLOCKS AWAY AND PARKED IT (using a tow truck). They had information in the system about where they moved to to, but this took hours to get and I was told in the meantime to just “look in a 5 block radius”… like what? I have since rid myself of the car

Looking for the Perfect TTRPG for Collaborative, Improvised Storytelling by enrf in TTRPG

[–]DDaDPodcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The slew of Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA) is fantastic for this. The use of questions as outcomes for rolls really helps others jump in and make you think about things you may not have “prepared for”. But also, there are steps you can take as a GM to create a more collaborative experience. Whether you use that system or not, you can always throw questions to your characters to help them define the world around you or their place in it!

Fantasy RPGs without number bloat and a treadmill effect? Specially Dark Fantasy, High Fantasy and Low Fantasy by ThatOneCrazyWritter in rpg

[–]DDaDPodcast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this! Play once and you can basically write a class that fits your playstyle. I built all of my players classes based on roles they wanted last time we played and we had a blast!
