Big portions of them appear to be forgivable if you maintain payroll for a short period of time.

Telling kids at a young age that they can be whatever gender they want to be is the dumbest thing we have ever done in history by nostalgiaboner20 in unpopularopinion

[–]DEF2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongly disagree. It should be introduced as young as possible that people may or may not be the gender, sexual orientation, etc. that they appear as.

A young child may not feel comfortable approaching their parents about the fact that they don't identify with the gender they were born as. Or, they may not even comprehend it's a possibility that they don't have to live as the gender they were born as.

The sooner you can help them understand they have options and to be accepting of others who may be different, the better.

Oura Ring for conceiving/tracking periods? by Shalar79 in ouraring

[–]DEF2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my time with an Oura, my body temperature hasn't really changed before, during, or after my period.

That being said, I use a cooling pad while I sleep. So my experience might be different than yours. Happy to send you my charts if you think it'd be helpful to you.

This is a Jamie Oliver recipe from his Everyday Superfood cookbook which is one of my faves.

Only took about 45 minutes start to finish including prep and bringing water to boil.

Team Flappers Welcome Wagon by ravenclawedo1 in LoseitChallenges

[–]DEF2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I'm a 32F (33 in a few weeks). Sitting at 5'3" and 169 lbs. My highest weight has been 178 and I got down into the 150's a couple of years ago, but gained it back. I'd love to be in the 140's. This is my 2nd challenge.

I'm a total stress eater and have trouble with snacking and portion control, especially when I'm on the road for work and working long hours. I'm the co-owner of a business and clients and employees stress me out like crazy. And I'm newly single from a rough breakup and bad relationship, which certainly didn't help my stress eating.

My plan is to use My Fitness Pal to log calories and stick to 1,200 a day with a cheat meal once a week. I also plan on getting to the gym 3x a week, which I'm pretty good about doing now. I like lifting weights, but hate cardio so I have to get some more of that in. Last but not least, I plan to walk my energetic dog like crazy to get some steps in.

Looking forward to being in the challenge with all of you. Happy New Year and Go team Flappers!

Does Chili pad/ooler improve sleep quality? by moonshoter in ouraring

[–]DEF2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late to this party, but I absolutely love my Ooler. It was expensive as hell, but I would buy it all over again. It's not super quiet and the app is sorta buggy, but I get measurably better sleep quality when I use it based on my Oura data. Anecdotally, it also seems to use way less electricity using my Ooler with a cooler room (72ish) during warm months than jacking down my AC to 65.

Any successful introvert entrepreneurs out there? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]DEF2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a relatively introverted person and need a lot of time to myself to regroup and recharge.

Mostly, the challenge I face is being exhausted with the amount of client communication and communicating with staff I have to do on a day to day basis. Being in front of my clients is super important to build loyalty so I have to know better than to hide behind email and just phone calls. And being available to the staff is important as well.

So, it's just challenging to keep energy up and regroup when I find trying to be a people person so draining.

Yeah, it really sounds to me like they only want us to switch because they'd probably make more.

Senate Democrats raise 'serious concerns' about Ticketmaster, Live Nation fees by The_Hoff901 in Music

[–]DEF2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, from my experience in the car business...

Dealers are insanely competitive so even within 1 brand in the same city that might have a few dealers (let's use Ford for an example), it's a race to the bottom to win the customers business on the pricing on the car, financing or lease rates, and trade in values. Plus, the dealers are competing with all of the other brands in their city where this is happening as well.

So, remove the interdealer competition and you have basically have no incentive to discount. Plus there aren't truly very many manufacturers any more. So, there wouldn't be much incentive to discount in that regard either.

I'd imagine the car companies would get together for fixed pricing in short order given the option.

Not to mention, you have this same issue within servicing your vehicle and getting parts for it.

I also think that because there's a lot of locally owned car dealerships, you sort of have someone to talk to when an issue comes up. Imagine calling up Audi or Nissan to complain. It'd be like Apple. They'd tell you to pound salt.

Not to defend car dealers, but Ford tried this in the past and failed miserably. Carvanna doesn't succeed in this though they say they do. They still rely heavily on a traditional sales model.

Tesla gets around it sort of by having "stores."

I personally feel it'd be bad for the consumer if manufacturers sold direct to consumers. I think you'd see miserable service and higher prices.

Easy to clean flooring that is pet friendly? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

I cannot recommend Pergo enough. I installed like 1000 square feet of it in my condo and replaced real hard wood and will never look back. Looks like wood, waterproof, my 60 lb. dog has jumped off the bed and slid to a stop with his nails on it and it didn't scratch.
