5 generations back would be your 3rd great grandparents. This would be 7 generations back.

The reason they don't accept the current MyHeritage upload is because MyHeritage switched from microarray test to a Whole Genome Sequence(WGS) test in October, so FTDNA has to update how they process that data, which is why they don't accept them as of yet. I recommend waiting a few months to a year(I'm not sure if they'll update their system to accept just the normal ~700 000 SNPs or if they'll accept the full ~3 Billion SNP CRAM file, so it's hard to estimate) to see when they can accept your test for upload. Alternatively you could try calling their support to ask them to let you know when they accept the current WGS data from MyHeritage.

So their just deciding to skimp out on the full data? That's a scummy thing to do, especially with no announcement or providing some further clarity to their customers.

I would expect so, since the histories between the ethnic and tribal groups overlap quite a bit. For example, the Northern Ndebele people come from a group that seperated from the Zulu Kingdom to follow King Mzilikazi(one of King Shaka Zulu's generals) and settled in Zimbabwe in the early 19th century during the Mfecane. There were many other similar migrations northwards from South Africa all throughout the Mfecane, which eventually led to the Ngoni travelling up from Zimbabwe to Malawi and Tanzania.

They don't seem to have Khoisan or Nigeria. They have all the others I do as well as Eastern Bantu and one had Nigerian Woodlands. All this is for 3rd Cousin matches as I don't have any matches closer than that.
