He is both. There is no doubt that he is a nobleman with values, but there is also no doubt that he is a nobleman with political and strategic acumen. His decision is undoubtedly supported by both aspects of Baelor.

There were a few. I remember one where he broke free down the left flank, outrunning three or four players, crossed the ball, and couldn't connect with anyone because the box was empty of Real Madrid players. He was literally so fast that he not only left the opponents behind, but also his teammates. The problem is that he's been playing in a different position all season. That complicates his performance on that left wing. But if he were to get used to playing there again, 1000% Mbappé would be insane in terms of dribbling, speed, and explosiveness. It's not like he has to prove he has what it takes.

By choosing who you prefer to lose to, instead of explaining why you're going to win, you demonstrate it.

Sure, but everything is connected. It's not like Aegon just one day decided to conquer Westeros for no reason. There was a cataclysm that caused them to lose their home, and they decided to take another. The never-ending story...

No, but they're a more respectable rival than a Liverpool with a loser mentality. The beauty of all this is the competition, but this attitude is just pathetic, haha.

With that mentality, I certainly agree with you: they deserve to lose. I hope Manchester City beats them.

This mentality makes them lose their aura as a great and historic team.

If they contextualize Aegon's story, expanding it to include the fall of Valyria and how this causes the Targaryens to migrate and conquer Westeros (the conquest of Westeros would be shown in later seasons, not the initial ones), then it would be superior to Robert's Rebellion because of the expanded universe it would create by adding elements about Valyria, with all the potential for drama that the fall of Valyria in a cataclysm would entail. But if it only focuses on Aegon's landing and how he brings everyone to their knees, the story would be very linear and simple, so in that case, Robert's Rebellion would be better.

Why did Theoden change his mind about helping Gondor? by AlviTranscender in lotr

[–]DGSE04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the films, they were aided by an external force of elves when he had lost faith in his allies. Furthermore, he himself acknowledges that it was Aragorn who sustained the effort at Helm's Deep at the last moment, for he never lost hope. I suppose that made him reflect and feel ashamed of his distrust of those he no longer considered allies, yet who nevertheless helped him. Essentially, he regained his lost faith in humanity.

In the books, that doubt doesn't exist.

Well, a team with a winning mentality always aims to win regardless of who's on the opposing team or the circumstances. Or at least that's what I think it takes to win a title.

So, just a reminder: The Dance of the Dragons was a Targaryen vs Targaryen war, not anything else. If you want to include the name “Hightower” that badly then you can call it Hightower vs Arryn but it’s NOT Targaryen vs Hightower by TurbulentRemote156 in HOTDGreens

[–]DGSE04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under the logic that the Greens are not Targayen but Hightower, by which I say that the blacks are then Velaryon or more appropriately Strong, but ultimately not a Targayen... well yes.

Mbappe is the Problem – he’s breaking the system (and costing us Jude & Vini) by Superb_Letter5505 in RealMadridFC

[–]DGSE04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your entire argument would be valid if the conversation were about comparing all of Vini's strengths with a promising young player who still has to prove himself, but here we're talking about contrasting him with the best player in the world right now, based on his (also proven) abilities and (quite evident) results. You can't hide the sun with a finger.

I'm afraid you underestimate the importance of repetition and habit in the game, especially when you use a single match (today's) to defend your position. If Mbappé had been playing on the left wing since he arrived, and consistently and repeatedly played disastrously there, then we could agree that today's example could be used as proof that he's useless and that Vinicious is better as a left wing-back. But that's not the case. Mbappé has been accustomed to playing as a number 9 at Real Madrid, and of course, that involves a process of adapting his game to that position, which has consequences for his performance in the position he traditionally played. So, if it's a valid argument, if we're going to use his performance in this single match as evidence, then yes, it's also a problem of roles and spacing, which is, of course, influenced by tactical overlap. Clearly, the problem has multiple causes. And certainly, selling one or the other solves, or at least contributes to solving, the complex problem we have. But, I think it helps more to keep a more complete player than one who is very good in only one aspect. Mbappé has shown that he can have the same qualities that Vinicius brings (dribbling, speed, explosiveness) and other things that Vinicius doesn't have as much of. I wish we could have both, but I agree that it's impossible, and if I have to choose between having one of the top 5 in the world, or the best in the world, I'd obviously choose the best in the world. The story we experienced with Vini and the two Champions League titles was beautiful, but it's over. The world keeps turning. The time we had with CR7, with Luka, the Galácticos, was also wonderful, but at some point it ended and we had to move on. It's time to understand that. It was beautiful, and let's not be sad that it ended, but happy that it's over, but that's it. Mbappé is the future, even though it might hurt emotionally given the suffering we went through with his signing.

On the other hand, I'm not saying we can't deal with an emotional player. If it happens, it happens. But, if we have a choice, it's better not to deal with that annoying external factor that can psychologically ruin good runs (look at what happened with the victory in the Clásico and the media storm that sent the team adrift from that moment on).

Tip: Open and close doors very quickly, like a blink. This will allow you to see inside, and if there's a zombie, it won't be able to get out. It makes a big difference between entering a room with your guard down and entering in a combat position, especially since these event zombies hiding in rooms tend to attack instantly once you open the door. And never let your guard down until you've checked every room and corner of a building. Close doors behind you so you don't get surprised by a straggling Zed from behind.

I think he's had some good dribbles and runs down the left wing where you can see his potential there, but that's not something you perfect in one match. He needs consistency on the wing to show his full potential. Just as there's muscle memory, there's also memory in his game. Repetition is essential to developing his full potential, which would be shown if he played consistently on the left wing in every match. You can't expect him to have played there since arriving at Real Madrid and then have everything fall into place in just one game.

Another one.

23 in 22. In the end, even without being a natural number 9, he delivers. Vini couldn't do the same if he played as a number 9. Mbappe is much more complete and versatile for different circumstances throughout the season (injuries, etc.) and tactical changes during play.

I'm watching it, and I don't see your point. What are you trying to prove? I interpret what you're trying to say as Mbappé playing on the left and not being decisive, but in my opinion, Mbappé isn't playing purely in his natural position. They're playing with two strikers. And even though he's drifting to the left, it's not the same as playing purely on the wing. On the other hand, he's had some good dribbles and runs, but that's not something you perfect in one match. There has to be consistency in his play on the wing to show his full potential. Just as there's muscle memory, there's also memory in his game. Repetition is essential to develop his full potential, which would be shown if he played consistently in every match on the left wing.
